As for the Medical/Insurance Complex and others that profit from the business of war, they should be paying huge war taxes.
I'm going to amend that to say: they should be paying huge war taxes from the onset of war, for the duration, and for at least one generation thereafter to compensate for the damages their businesses thrive and grow on. No war (like other countries who manage to have first-rate Militaries unburdened by profiteering and colonialist adventurism), no huge war tax responsibility for businesses like Blackwater/Xe, Halliburton, KBR, the Carlyle Group, etc., etc., et al. to bear. That should be an incentive for them to strive for diplomatic solutions and to restructure their internal investments accordingly. Gen. Smedley Butler is most remembered for his assessment that "War is Racket" but he said much more than that. He called for constructive action, like taking the profit out of War.
