Between the petroleum and the billions of barrels of fossil water Libya's been piping out of the desert, that country was on its way to becoming the economic powerhouse of Africa.

Libyans were proud to boast that they did it all without the intrusion of Western bankers.

I've met a lot of their engineers. Fine folks. Every Libyan with a couple of shekels in his pockets has a farm.

Every time a nation that doesn't belong to the European club stands up on its own two feet, they get smacked down.
