Over 3,582 individuals have donated a total $280,143 to the defense fund, while an additional 635 supporters (including WikiLeaks) have given $62,000 to Bradley's legal trust account. With the addition of a death penalty charge of "aiding the enemy", Bradley's total legal expenses are now estimated at $170,000. Along with direct contributions, $137,000 has been transferred to the legal trust. (Updated 13 April 2011, 1 pm) Bradley Manning Defense Fund (tax-deductible donations) The Bradley Manning defense fund is hosted by Courage to Resist in collaboration with the Bradley Manning Support Network. With the increase in legal expenses due to the death penalty charge, donations are again being split between public education and support activities, and the legal costs. For more information, check out the defense fund FAQ and the most recent defense fund fiscal report. Donate online (https://co.clickandpledge.com/sp/d1/default.aspx?wid=38591) Or, send checks payable Courage to Resist to: Courage to Resist, 484 Lake Park Ave #41, Oakland CA 94610. Please note Manning defense on the checks memo line. Bradley Manning IOLTA legal trust account (NOT tax-deductible) The Bradley Manning legal trust account is managed by Bradley's attorney David Coombs under regulation of the Massachusetts IOLTA (Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts) Program and the American Bar Association. All proceeds offset Bradley's legal expenses. Any funds remaining at the end of Bradley's court martial will be available to him for appeals. Any funds remaining at the resolution of the legal case will become Bradley's with interest. Send checks payable "IOLTA / Manning" to: Courage to Resist, 484 Lake Park Ave #41, Oakland CA 94610 Checks received will be deposited to: Bank of America, Massachusetts IOLTA Trust Account, Account: 0046-2853-2833. Due to the way processing fees interacted with the legal trust, online donations to the legal trust are no longer possible. We are again accepting PayPal contributions. These contributions will be used in support of the "Stand with Brad" public statement and petition (standwithbrad.org). These PayPal transactions are not tax-deductible. Our relationship with PayPal has been complicated to put it mildly. On January 29, 2011, PayPal restricted access to our account based on the "need for additional information." After a month of trying to find a possible resolution with senior PayPal staff, we issued a statement on February 24, 2011, regarding the situation. After thousands of supporters signed a petition and contacted PayPal in protest, our account was restored a few hours later without explanation. We employ the tax-gouging bureaucrats and politicians; they make it a crime to find out what they're up. Any wonder why people of the Middle East are in an uproar about these kinds or arrangements?

The relationship between morality and liberty is a directly proportional one. "Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters." - Ben Franklin
