EL PASO, Texas (AP) — Authorities say a West Texas rancher shot and injured two alleged trespassers then drove them to a fire station for help.

The El Paso Times reports that the shootings occurred Wednesday in the same community where Hudspeth County Sheriff Arvin West last year told farmers to "arm yourselves" in response to drug violence spilling across the border.

El Paso County sheriff's officials said the rancher alleged the two men were trespassing.

Norangel Velez told KTSM-TV in El Paso that he and his father were looking for land to buy (BULLSHIT!!) when they took a wrong turn in their truck and the rancher began shooting without warning.

Velez was shot once and his father three times.

It's unclear if the rancher will face charges. The Texas Rangers are investigating.

Don't trespass or you'll get shot. Next time, use a real estate agent and stay the hell off other people's land.

How about "a West Texas rancher allegedly shot two trespassers"?

"Whatever we do, it doesn't matter - they are animals," he cried in Spanish, when asked why the peacekeepers were not trying to explain anything in French or Creole.

Ultimately this is a result of the government policy of letting the drug cartels control the border.

The El Paso Times reports that the shootings occurred Wednesday in the same community where Hudspeth County Sheriff Arvin West last year told farmers to "arm yourselves" in response to drug violence spilling across the border.

Regardless of the circumstances it is sad, but when people are scared they have a tendency to shoot first and ask questions later.

Can't blame the guy. The 2nd Amendment guarantees the "right of the people to keep and bear arms."

but when people are adequately armed and live in a remote area well known to be a Mexican drug trafficking area, they have a tendency to shoot first and ask questions later.

i was going to post the exact same thing. interesting their choice of words for the headline presumes innocence on the part of the tresspassers, but not for the rancher.
