I can understand the Editor's concern.
I've been to Williamsport many times in my life. I can remember when it was a clean and thriving city with almost no crime. The downtown was one of the economic hubs in the area with high employment and very few run-down neighborhoods. Businesses were thriving on mainstreet. But that was prior to the mid '80s.
Now,it's crime and drug infested ghetto/barrio.Almost every week someone gets shot and a few nights ago someone shot 5 people. Almost nightly, the convience stores get 'knocked-off' It's not safe to walk down the street anymore and I cringe if I have to go there for any reason. I won't even book my band there anymore. But then, the once bustling music scene has died too.
The editor must be a native of Williamsport and remembers what 'used to be.'
