They would have been heroes if they would have developed a nuke and won the damn war. Then this depression we are in would not be happening! But unfortunately their top scientists working on a nuclear weapon weren't trying too hard, they didn't like Hitler. If they had known how things were going to turn out for their own people after the war, I think they would have developed that nuke and won the war.
