HCR 5 the anti-aggressive pat-down RESOLUTION passes the House.

House leadership has agreed to let HB 41 out with an amendment by Rep. David Simpson, R-Longview. They did not agree to let it out with Senate’s language, creating an impasse, Rep. Joe Deshotel tweeted.

Here is the resolution:

By Rep. Harper-Brown HCRÂ 5

HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION WHEREAS, The citizens of this state and nation are protected from unreasonable search and seizure by the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution; and

WHEREAS, Actions by agents of the Transportation Security Administration have subjected members of the public, before they may board airplanes or access certain public buildings, to intrusive pat downs that extend beyond the bounds of normal propriety; and

WHEREAS, Although TSA has acknowledged its overreaching policy by making a change related to screening children, much more progress needs to be made; and

WHEREAS, While recognizing that the security of this nation is paramount, and that all reasonable measures must be taken to protect the public, treating all travelers, including senior citizens and disabled individuals, as serious threats in no way contributes to this nation’s safety; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the 82nd Legislature of the State of Texas, 1st Called Session, hereby respectfully urge the Congress of the United States to take appropriate action to ensure acceptable treatment of the public by personnel of the Transportation Security Administration; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That the Texas secretary of state forward official copies of this resolution to the president of the United States, to the speaker of the house of representatives and the president of the senate of the United States Congress, to the administrator of the Transportation Security Administration, and to all the members of the Texas delegation to the congress with the request that this resolution be officially entered in the Congressional Record as a memorial to the Congress of the United States of America.

A resolution has all the effect of a pitcher of warm spit.

Sell-out bastards.

Guess this is better than n nothing.

A palliative to placate the uppity Sheep. No teeth means it is meaningless. It is nothing more than a PR move to try and quell the revolt against the TSA's Police State Intrusions upon formerly free people.

Remember The White Rose

But whatsoever, after due examination and analysis, you find to be kind, conducive to the good, the benefit, the welfare of all beings - that doctrine believe and cling to, and take it as your guide.” ~ Gautama Siddhartha — The Buddha

Yes, totally gummy.

It's a measure of the extreme dissatisfaction and indignation on the part of the troops that a measure like this is forced over the top.

It takes a heap of boiling rage to drive the issue onto a legislature's agenda. Of course, by the time it works its way through the system, it emerges as a sparrow fart.

All told, though this is better than nothing, and in the context of recent TSA outrages, other states like Nes Hampshire, New Jersey and Pennsylvania have bills in the works.

The sheep are just beginning to stir.

It is a violation of Natural Law to use this document in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.

Sell-out bastards.

Exactly. It doesn't mean $#it. What they should have passed was a law which stated in no uncertain terms that even the morons who work for the TSA can understand is that if they grope people or do anything to them that would be considered offensive to any reasonable person that they will go to jail. No ifs, ands or buts.
