I predict that nothing will happen to give a reprieve to traditional lightbulbs, why would Congress pass up an opportunity to screw the people with insane legislation??
I agree, this is all about votes and saying I tried. It will die in committee for sure. I would bet money on it.

Those bulbs really piss me off....where are we supposed to dispose of them? I've already had two burn out faster than the old bulbs and they can't even go in the trash. And, what is the issue with REPEALING idiocy? Why is this so difficult?

I'm switching to led They come in warm white and use 1/10th the watts as an incandescent. They don't give off dirty emf wave energy like compact fluorescent. They last about 40,000 hours unlike an incandescent which lasts only 1000 hrs. yeah but they are trying to fit the bulbs to the lamps, they need to redesign the lamps to fit LEDs. We have LEDs on the bike for brakes and turn signals as well as aesthetics. They have ones that go back and forth like KIT from Nightrider.

Oh, you can buy LED bulbs that will screw into a regular socket now. C. Crane Company has them. They are expensive although the price has come down, but if you look at the life of the bulb and the energy savings they still save money over the long run over both incandescents and "twisty bulbs".
Yes, they're called E27 (if you're looking for them on ebay). Prices range from $4 to $15 and up of course. Around $8 usually and worth every cent in my opinion. Enter "led bulb e27 warm white" into search on ebay. I usually narrow the results down by clicking "buy it now only".
Considering that a couple of years ago they were about 25 bucks each it is a nice price drop. The Geo-Bulbs have come down too. The first generation on them was over 100 dollars per bulb.
Those prices are from China btw ; )

While what you are saying makes sense from a logical and engineering perspective people don't think that way. They want their bulbs to look like whut Grampa had. Although C. Crane does have an LED desk lamp now that was designed with LED bulbs in mind.
As usual, Congress is fuckin' for celibacy.
