Tessa has courageously decided to proceed to trial and not accept a government plea bargain. Please pray for her success and please consider helping her shoulder the economic burdens as you have helped me. Despite their own burdens and concerns, Larken & Tessa, their family, and their supporters generously helped me when I needed it most. Tessa's brief email message follows: ***************************************************** Dear Folks, You all heard from Larken a while back that I have decided to go to trial rather than making a plea bargain. I don't want to say too much about it, except that the decision has been agonizing. The thought of possibly being separated from my daughter for a long time - for any time, really - is horrible. If it would hurt only me, I could tolerate it, but to cause *her* unhappiness is unthinkable. On the other hand is justice. Every time we cave in to injustice, it becomes a little easier for them to do it. I have a chance right now to stand for justice - and I don't think I can live with myself if I back down from that. I have no guarantees, however, whatever choice I make. So I have chosen to fight - because being acquitted and going home with my daughter is the only outcome that is completely good and right, and going to trial is the only option that gives me any chance of that. There is so much in my heart that I cannot express. I am suffering, but I do not feel alone. I feel the love of all of you - family, friends, allies - like thousands of hands holding me. Now for the practical stuff: going to trial with an attorney will probably cost about $35,000. You all know how we hate to ask for money, but I'm just bowled over by your generosity every time. Your help is so greatly appreciated. Please send contributions to: Larken Rose The trial is scheduled to begin Monday, November 7, in Philadelphia. We do not anticipate any more major delays, but you all know that nothing is ever certain. There is so much more I want to say that I can't now. Love you all - Tessa
