I'm surprised that there aren't a ton of people with metal detectors combing the dried up river bed. I bet there would be some interesting finds.

I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. - Benjamin Franklin

I bet there would be some interesting finds.

In recent years two confirmed jaguarundi sightings have been reported in the hill country just west of Austin, Texas. Both occurred with witnesses and on more than one occasion. The proximity of the two might seem to indicate that it was the same cat. Perhaps it crossed the Pedernales River when it dried up during the record-breaking drought of 2008-2009.

It is vital to understand that there is no truth without discernment and no wisdom without the truth. What then is “faith” but an effort to confound truth and wisdom?

OMG!

My family and friends have had several great boat trips down this ( I cant spell canoue).

I think I saw an official map that put Austin, or close, to a D-5 drought category.

A Severe Drought? That is tough in so many many ways.

Well Colorado Springs didn't get as bad as you, but our D just broke five days or so ago.

I hope this wet weather gets to you soon.

Is anyone swimming in the Lake there, L. Austin?? Might not be a good idea.

Lake Austin seems to be fine as far as I know. Of course Lake Travis is way, way down. I haven't heard the latest number, but probably 40+ feet. Ranchers are having to sell starving cattle it's that bad.

Town Lake and Inks Lake are constant level lakes.

It sucks hard for the rest of the Highland Lakes.

We are in a mega-mega-drought here.

We had some rain today. It's been cool and wet. The green is the long grass is half gone, but the all lakes here are at normal level.

I hope you all get some rain soon down there.

"The United States today is like a cruise ship on the Niagara River upstream of the most spectacular falls in North America. A few people on board have begun to pick up a slight hiss in the background, to observe a faint haze of mist in the air or on their glasses, to note that the river current seems to be running slightly faster. But no one yet seems to have realized that it is almost too late to head for shore." -- Historian and author Chalmers Johnson"
