On June 8, 2011 the following unfortunate arrest took place in Canton, OH. Notifying the policy when you have a firearm is required by Ohio Law, but when this individual with a thirty-day old license tries to do that he is repeatedly ordered to look away, shut up, or interrupted and "forced" to change what he is speaking about by the actions of an aggressive cop who maintains verbal control of the situation.
A two man car dealing with three people put itself at risk when one officer started what appears to be an illegal search of the rear of the car without extracting or securing the driver - which would have given him an opportunity to notify.
What follows is horrific example of a police officer losing all self-control, threatening to beat the female, threatening to beat the driver and eventually saying he should have executed him "and wouldn't have lost any sleep over it" that night.
.... people like that are not human, anymore? or maybe never were? .... they are something else and hate us all .... fill our society at all levels ....
... that POS keeps making such stupid mistakes during stops like that, he will be put down eventually .... can hear in his voice once the gun is disclosed, he's shat himself me thinks
~ the truth will set ya free, but only after it pisses ya off ~
I look at this from both sides. Here you have a guy, with a CCW, who didn't get a word in edgewise to inform. You have two cops who didn't bother to follow procedure, and go after the driver immediately. Had they done that, the gun thing would have come up pretty quickly and the cops wouldn't have looked like morons.
The driver, regardless of his excuses was in a bad part of town, with a KNOWN prostitute, and possibly another John. The issue to me isn't one so much of police being aggressive, but a moron being in the wrong part of town, being used by a whore, and her friend.
The cops likely being stuck in a shitty part of town having to deal with nothing but scumbags, figure this clod to be exactly what he is. An idiot. The guy may have passed the course, but lacked the street smarts to know when he's being put in a bad situation. I give the cops a little more credit than they're getting in this video, even though they themselves look pretty dumb when all is said and done.

the major problem with all cops is that, and they will tell you this, their job is to keep order.
the deal with that tub of shit is that order is naturally going to be kept for those in power ONLY. when civil unrest comes, having order (status quo) preserved is only benefitting those who hold the power....but cops only are interested in 'following the law' and have no use for concepts like liberty or figuring out they're low paid hookers, for the most part, for the powers that be. Like 'getting drugs off the street' ensures the CIA can still run coke and make good money....who needs to think about that when the only thing anyone who signs up for a low paying, life risking job wants is power over others and cheap thrills....
so the pigs will always fall on the side of tyrants when they toe that line.
also, they have their little code of silence, meaning: accesories to crime, suborning perjury, etc....
anytime a pig gets busted you can bet the ranch he's been doing it for years, and everyone on the 'force' knows about it.
there aint many serpico's out there.
Thou hast power only to act not over the result thereof. Act thou therefore without prospect of the result and without succcumbing to inaction. The mind acts like an enemy for those who do not control it...Perform your obligatory duty, because action is indeed better than inaction...Sever the ignorant doubt in your heart with the sword of self-knowledge. Observe your discipline. Arise.
Driver feels like a 'victim' after encounter with Canton police officer
By: Bob Jones, newsnet5.com
CANTON, Ohio - A Canton police officer is off the job and on administrative leave, following a verbal altercation with a driver who had a permit to carry a concealed weapon.
William Bartlett said the angry words of Canton police officer Daniel Harless are still ringing in his head more than a month after a verbal tirade on a Canton street.
"I was scared and I'm still a little nervous. I don't want to see that officer. I'm afraid of what he might do," Bartlett said.
Bartlett spoke exclusively to NewsChannel5, one day after the dash cam video of his encounter with the officer went viral.
"People were shocked to see what they seen on TV. You should have been there in my shoes," Bartlett said.
On the video, you can clearly hear the officer yelling and swearing at Bartlett, calling him a "stupid idiot" and "a dummy."
During one of the most intense moments of the video, Harless said, "I should have took two steps back, pulled my Glock .40 and just put 10 bullets in your (expletive) and just let you drop and I wouldn't have lost any sleep!"
Officer Harless became furious after Bartlett said he had a concealed carry permit and a gun.
Harless yelled, "You are supposed to say that right off the (expletive) bat."
Bartlett is heard responding, "I'm sorry. I was trying to."
The group, Ohioans for Concealed Carry, which first posted the video, said Bartlett tried to the tell the officer about his permit, but Harless kept interrupting and the tongue lashing just kept getting worse.
"People like you don't deserve to (expletive) move throughout public," Harless said on the video.
Canton Police Chief Dean McKimm said officers approached Bartlett on June 8 around 1:30 a.m. because they thought he was in a suspicious vehicle in a high-crime area, but Bartlett said he was there to help a friend and did nothing wrong.
McKimm has reviewed the video and said the officer's actions were "wholly unacceptable" and his behavior violated many of the departmental regulations.
McKimm said Officer Harless has been suspended, but is currently being paid through sick leave. Harless will face a disciplinary hearing and could face termination, McKimm said.
Bartlett was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and has a pre-trial hearing on August 1 in Canton Municipal Court.
A court summons indicated, "Subject had concealed upon his person one .38 Cal Ruger pistol that was loaded and ready to fire. Subject did not inform police officers that he had a CCW permit through Stark County until the weapon was discovered during a pat down of his person during a traffic stop of his vehicle."
Bartlett's gun was seized. Now, he wonders if Officer Harless should lose his gun and badge.
"He shouldn't have said what he said, but he did, so what am I supposed to do? I'm sure not every policeman is bad. I'm sure of that. I respect law enforcement officers.
NewsChannel5 stopped by the home of Officer Harless on Friday, but a family member said he was not available for comment.
The video is posted on YouTube, but contains profanity and may not be suitable for everyone.
This cop should be already fired and made an example of.
THis is precisely the thing that scares me as much as the crime reasons I concealed carry; the cops can be the most dangerous thing you encounter out there.
If they panic or get irate and kill you, they write the report and other cops will back them up.
They are like a gang wearing blue when they are at their worst.
"The United States today is like a cruise ship on the Niagara River upstream of the most spectacular falls in North America. A few people on board have begun to pick up a slight hiss in the background, to observe a faint haze of mist in the air or on their glasses, to note that the river current seems to be running slightly faster. But no one yet seems to have realized that it is almost too late to head for shore." -- Historian and author Chalmers Johnson"
Canton Ohio is the county seat of Stark County. Famous for the Stark County Strip Search. I guess when a police department goes rotten, it goes all the way.
