All that collective griping about the weather just got validated by some cold facts: The spring of 2011 was the chilliest on record for the state.

James Johnstone, a research associate with the Joint Institute for the Study of the Atmosphere and Ocean in the UW College of the Environment, said the average high temperature from April through June was 60.4 degrees Fahrenheit, beating the previous average of 61.6 degrees in 1955.

The average high temperature for the period since 1900 is 65.6 degrees.

“The people who have been complaining about the weather have had a right to complain,” said Nick Bond, a UW research meteorologist and the state climatologist. “I rather like it, but that’s my own character flaw.”

While the state shivered through the coldest spring on record, Seattle didn’t have it quite so bad. It was just the second-coldest spring on record, with an average high temperature of 60.4 degrees. Only 1920, with a daily average high of 59.6 degrees, was colder.

And it gets worse for the Emerald City: The past two springs were the cloudiest since measurements started 50 years ago.

“We were still getting wintertime cloud cover into late June, which is the most remarkable aspect to me,” Johnstone said.

According to Johnstone, the period from April through June averaged 18.6 hours per day of at least 50 percent cloud cover. Last year was worse, with 19.1 hours per day.

Is it something Seattleites should get used to?

“I think it’s just a run of two bad springs in a row,” Johnstone said. “I wouldn’t expect it to happen again and again and again.” Subscribe to *Agriculture-Environment*

Chalk it up to global expansion; the new boy on the block. Global warming is passe.

It is vital to understand that there is no truth without discernment and no wisdom without the truth. What then is “faith” but an effort to confound truth and wisdom?

~ funny how it works eh? - coolest on record up there - and hottest on record down here in south-central Oklahoma ... flipin 110-113 everyday now ....

playing at google search for 5 minutes displays something is happening .... use terms 'coolest on record' - then 'hottest on record'

the solar-system-wide globes warming isn't the hoax in my opine, it's Al Gore n the money-fear-mongers blaming it on us humans and using it to punish n take more money/freedom away ...

Part of the problem is that climate is normally variable. No two years are exactly alike and the climate reflects that.

In the early 20th century it was not uncommon for the Willamette River to freeze over during the winter. It has now not done so in probably 75 years or more.

The last two winters in England and Europe are among the coldest on record.

Likewise the Oklahoma of the "Dust Bowl" suffered unusually high temperatures and low rainfall for several years. My maternal grandfather went bust in Kansas after 3 years of crop failure in a row.

The geologic record shows wide swings in climate over time and trying to use a relatively short period of time to predict future climate, as the warmists, do is nothing but a con job.

Over and over again it has been shown that increasing temperatures are NOT tied to atmospheric CO2 let alone the minuscule additional contribution of humanity. You nailed when you said the con job is about money and control.

Remember The White Rose
"“Believe nothing merely because you have been told it. Do not believe what your teacher tells you merely out of respect for the teacher. But whatsoever, after due examination and analysis, you find to be kind, conducive to the good, the benefit, the welfare of all beings - that doctrine believe and cling to, and take it as your guide.” ~ Gautama Siddhartha — The Buddha

I'd love to say it's HAARP, but I don't know.

It could very well be cyclic weather patterns, over the years.
