Was still 110F at 6:00 PM when I played my Wed. night mini-tournament last night, it was still 106F when I was driving home at 9:00 PM. Same deal Tuesday night when it was 109F at 6:00 PM and I was playing at a different course. I consider it a free sauna-session. I don't see why people pay good money to go to the beach when I get the same conditions or worse for free :p Pavement temp is 142F, highway dept was spraying water on a new section of highway to keep it from buckling due to the heat. I've had to adjust the bi-level temperature setting on my truck to blow more cold air into the footwells to counter the heat radiating up from the pavement. Yard is showing large cracks in the ground. Birds are scarce, they're hanging out at the ponds/stock tanks. Tree's are shedding leaves like it's October. It might go down to 101F by the end of this week. So, how you doin'??

If I said we had a high of 84 today you'd hate me. If I said the next 7 day forecast is mostly upper 70's you might do me mayhem.
Just checked the forecast - Weather Underground is the only one saying mid to upper 70's - the other two are saying 80'ish.
been 110-114 all week here in south central OK - leaves falling as if October ... birds 'n small critters in yard at work love the lawn sprinklers kicking in each afternoon ... squirrels and rabbits look rather scrawny ... skinny, hungry can't get temp down below 87 in my lil cave - according to weather forecast, expecting 113 through Sunday yet I ride a bicycle everywhere and the heat out there now burns my eyes *s .... just like cold wind has done in winter all my years .... this is new ... crazy stuff
It's so hot around here the chickens are laying fried eggs and birds are using potholders to pull worms out of the ground. Doh!

thanks for the tip - wow, that would likely freeze my lil cave out quick *s - this is my 6th season with an $80 AC from Walmart, it blows real cold but just can't handle the intensity of this heat ... went first few weeks thinking this would pass and I could handle it, but wow .... it seems to be getting hotter each week now
I hear they make a passable soup - if you're hungry enough.
Kinda kool this morn, temp is 53 F and had a nice rain through the night. Really, this is the coolest morn we have had, possibly the heat is over for us in Colo Springs. Feel for you guys in the baking south. Ugh. No me gusta.

NE Oklahoma looks like its Oct/Nov around here....all leaves and grass dead...blue green algae growing everywhere...can't even get in the lakes to cool off! At 10pm night before last it was still 110!
That's probably not good. One of the cherry trees I put in this year had about half the leaves turn and drop. It seems to have stabilized for now, but the wife was really upset about it.
Yeah, family in Fannin county, TX have no sympathy for our 106-7 temps in Austin. That would be a relief for them.
Break the Conventions - Keep the Commandments - G.K.Chesterson It hit 100 at 9:30 am morning before last and today its NOT as bad its only 93 with higher humidity then we have had in a few weeks....still nasty hot! We have a creek in front of the house and I went out the other morning and it was clear by that afternoon around 3 it was covered in algae! Nasty stuff!
Be glad that you have some water. There must a spring feeding the creek?

No its what is left over from the only rain we got back in March....its one spot that deeper than the others the rest of it is dried out...bright side it ran all the water snakes away! The natural springs east of town are just about dry tho!
i've noticed that too. only the squirrels are using my birdbath with the exception of one owl! bathing itself in the middle of the day 2 days ago. strange behavior that!
I haven't even seen the raccoons we usually have next door in weeks! And I don't recall seeing a bird in over a week! I should also say we havent had road kill either...ya know its hot when there isn't dead things in the road! They won't touch it! LOL
We had four days in the upper 90's last month here in New England, and I was freaking over my garden. I can't imagine weeks of 100+ weather with no end in sight. (74 and cloudy right now...)

Upper 90's is good for our peaches. 110F and above isn't good for anything except cantaloupe/melons/peppers.
That is peculiar. The only time I've seen owls in daylight was in Dec/Jan deep in the woods when daylight is short.
Returning from shopping were two fawns, still w/spots, drinking from a water pot set out for whatever needs it. Screw the city council. I don't want anything to die of dehydration.

A doe's walking across the lawn, headed for water. The eastern deer that were brought to Lake Tawakoni almost fifty years ago, have finally spread into Fannin county, and they are some beauties; nothing like these tiny Hill Country deer. Of course the feral hogs are running wild there also.

I was just going on, it isn't as hot here as it is in some places (but it has been upwards of 90 here part of the time and that doesn't happen often here). At least our Princess Tree likes the hot, humid weather.

My brother's brother-in-law worked the oil-fields in Kuwait (mega-bucks) and reported that they were supposed to stop work at 140, but they just stopped reporting the temps when it was closing in on 140. Why are we over in that hell-hole?

I feel for you. The hottest temps I ever had to contend with were out west years ago when I drove a tractor trailer. On a run out to California, middle of the summer and hot as the hinges of hell (as one of my uncles used to say) and no air conditioning in the truck (no working ac, it had it but it wasn't working). It was 115 when we went through Phoenix and the nearest description I have for it is that it probably felt like riding in a big rotisserie with all that hot wind blowing in the windows. Most miserable indeed.
