So, I was watching MMA on TV last night with my son and throughout the program the Navy had TV recruitment commercials calling the US Navy a "Global Force for Good." Since I do not watch TV on a regular basis I do not know how long the Navy has been billing itself as such but I was completely disgusted. The commercials were surreal. I felt like I was watching the movie Starship Troopers. You know, the movie about war with bugs where TV was filled with military propaganda about how great and glorious the military was.

I found it truly disturbing. What's even more disturbing is the thought of how many young people will fall for the bullshit and join up thinking they are actually doing good instead of being fodder for the Global Force for the murder of innocent women and children still living in 12th century mud huts.

Here's the caption underneath the video on You Tube:

Whether protecting the ideals of our nation or soothing the suffering of another, there is no place on earth we can't be found. For we are an undeniable force. To be counted upon. To be reckoned with. But most of all, never ever to be underestimated.

The relationship between morality and liberty is a directly proportional one.

Muscle bound hero-wannabes out to prove how they're all better than the next guy, largely. I know several that are MMAs around my area, at least four, and all four fit that description.

I'm sure that fits some, but definitely not all MMA fighters. My son is an MMA fighter and he doesn't fit that description. He's shy and quiet and if he keeps his grades up will be in the running for valedictorian of his high school class. He has been wrestling and training in the martial arts since he was 6 years old. He has a black belt in something called Rosenbach Warrior Training Branches, a blue belt in Brazilian Jujitsu and has been training in Muay Thai kickboxing for about three years now. MMA has allowed him to actually use the skills he's learned in a (somewhat) realistic environment. There are plenty of people participating in MMA who do not fit that description.

It seems pretty obvious to me that we are going to continue bullying the world until they turn on us and fight back.

If the economy collapses as some people predict, there is no telling how the government is going to react or what they are going to do get it going again. My bet is that they begin attacking countries left and right and create a wartime economy much like Hitler did in Germany.

I didn't mean the fighters themselves. Many of them, ironically, seem very docile out of the octagon. I meant primarily the fans. Fans always fantasize. I was just commenting on the locals here.

My misunderstanding. I agree that the fans can be pretty moronic and obnoxious. When I go and watch my son compete it's funny watching all of the "badasses" strutting around like roosters in a hen house. I doubt if even half of them actually train in any martial art much less MMA. LOL!

The Brazillian Jujitsu IMO is the best, but what do I know. LOL

It's a must have skill nowadays if you are going to compete, as is wrestling. The ground game is very important.

Oddly, MMA is among the more sportsmanlike sports. JMO

Not really. Think about it - a huge number of MMA fighters come from martial arts disciplines that teach self-discipline, self-control, self-respect and respect for others. Those attitudes breed sportsmanship-like behavior.

I'm not sure they have the might to fight back unless the rest of NATO and the Brits turn on us. You see that happening? I don't. They may withdraw support, ... if only, ... but I don't see them turning against us, not in our lifetime.

Good point. However, if the US economy collapses, I can't imagine how the economies throughout the world can survive. If/When that happens, governments all over the world are going to be looking for others to blame. We are the most likely target (and rightfully so). Russia and China are already setting the stage for this with their comments.

As to the economy, I have no idea how it can do anything but collapse if there's real math behind the numbers. Who knows how powerful RothCo. actually is and how much wealth they have to prop up the entire world. It's a lot, but can it be injected like that to keep things afloat?

Yes, common sense makes one think that this is it - the shit is finally hitting the fan. However, I've been hearing this literally my whole life. While I know it's just a matter of time, I'm through trying to guess when that time will arrive.

How would we pay for the "destruction of the world" if the "almighty dollar" collapses?

1930's Germany was in much worse shape than we are in and they were able to make it happen. I have no idea how they would do it but I have no doubt that if the PTB believed it was the only way for them to remain in power they would do it without blinking an eye.

Some seem to think that things are going to take off tomorrow and this week. I don't, but it could be an interesting week.

Yes. It most certainly will be. Depending on who you read we are either about to experience financial Armageddon or this is much to do about nothing. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

MMA?

Germany came back when Hitler began issuing his own d'marks, building autobanns, and getting the men back to work.

As Marge Schott famously observed, He had some good ideas, he just moved too quickly on some of them.
