Contact lost with hypersonic glider after launch

By JOHN ANTCZAK

Associated Press

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- An unmanned hypersonic glider developed for U.S. defense research into super-fast global strike capability was launched atop a rocket early Thursday but contact was lost after the experimental craft began flying on its own, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency said.

There was no immediate information on how much of the mission's goals were achieved.

It was the second of two planned flights of a Falcon Hypersonic Technology Vehicle-2. Contact was also lost during the first mission.

The small craft is part of a U.S. military initiative to develop technology to respond to threats at 20 times the speed of sound or greater, reaching any part of the globe in an hour.

The HTV-2 is designed to be launched to the edge of space, separate from its booster and maneuver through the atmosphere at 13,000 mph before intentionally crashing into the ocean.

DARPA used Twitter to announce the launch and status of the flight.

The agency said the launch of the Minotaur 4 rocket was successful and separation was confirmed. It next reported that telemetry had been lost.

No further details were immediately reported. There was no immediate response to an email request to DARPA for information on the mission.

The HTV-2 is intended to put theory, simulations and wind tunnel experience to the test in real flight conditions at speeds producing temperatures in the thousands of degrees and requiring extremely fast control systems, according to DARPA.

The first HTV-2 was launched on April 22, 2010. It returned nine minutes of data, including 139 seconds of aerodynamic data at speeds between 17 and 22 times the speed of sound, DARPA said.

That craft detected an anomaly, aborted its flight and plunged into the ocean, the agency said.

Poster Comment:

I'm sure there's another "anomaly" involved with this failure to.

Folks, we don't have permission to do this kind of stuff.

Nothing to see here folks. Just a portion of the MIC ensuring itself another several billion dollars of money we don't have. Oops. I'm sorry, I forgot. Greenspan says all we have to do is print more. We have all the money we need - and then some!

I know the money came out of thin air, but there did the anomaly come from?

I know the money came out of thin air, but there did the anomaly come from?

It was planned and programmed into the system so that they could "go back to the drawing board" and "figure out what went wrong." It's a wink, wink, nudge, nudge type of anomaly.

That craft detected an anomaly, aborted its flight and plunged into the ocean, the agency said.

Knowing a little about how such operations work there are a couple possibilities.

The test was successful, but they want people to think it wasn't.

Or it was intended to be unsuccessful.

Or "someone else" made sure it was unsuccessful.

In any event it is a dog and pony show. The technology for hypersonic flight has existed since at least the mid 80's. If the leaks on the black space program are credited we already have, hidden under layers of triple secret top secret paranoia, technology well in advance of this craft.

Remember The White Rose

But whatsoever, after due examination and analysis, you find to be kind, conducive to the good, the benefit, the welfare of all beings - that doctrine believe and cling to, and take it as your guide.” ~ Gautama Siddhartha — The Buddha

Agreed

IMO, if the complete truth be known, it would shoot holes in popular religious theory.

IMO, if the complete truth be known, it would shoot holes in popular religious theory.

The "High Priests" have ever traded on the ignorance and intellectual sheepishness of their flocks. Flock them. It is not that religion is bad, or that it does not contain great truths, but that like in any area blind faith is just that - blind. The Darwin Materialist Atheists are just as bad and just as dogmatic. They will brook no questioning of St. Darwin.

I find it interesting, and it got little note in most circles, that the last Pope made the pronouncement that if there were extraterrestrials that they were God's children too. The higher ups in the religious Power Structure know the truth but as you rightly observe they fear that truth becoming common knowledge. As does our secular psychotic elite.

I decided a long time ago that we were not alone, and probably thousands to millions of years behind in technology compared to other civilizations.

Actually we have not even risen to the level of civilization. The Robber Barons still control the world and we live in a barbarism with "neat gadgets". Technology does not make a civilization. For that you need a highly developed philosophic and religious base.

Third world shitholes don't have any business trying to build complex stuff like airplanes.

We'd better stick to making toilet paper, plastic bags and disposable diapers. Best we leave the tough stuff to countries that know what they're doing, like China, India and Vietnam.

But, none of those countries believe in the "love of Heysus"
