So I was watching both CNN and Fox this morning and both places are claiming that Rick Perry is the Tea Party favorite. This really confuses me because Rick Perry is everything that Tea Party members on this site and others claim to hate.

He's pro-illegal immigration

He's pro-North American Union (NAU)

He's pro-Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP)

He's pro-Trans Texas Corridor

Less than ten years ago he was the devil incarnate for thee beliefs, yet now he's the Tea Party favorite? If so, then there is no difference between the Tea Party and the Republican party because you just can't get much more establishment than Rick Perry.

As usual, the media will people who is going to win, and the people will go along because they "don't want to waste my vote on someone who can't win."

I can't wrap my mind around that mentality, but I've seen it enough to know it's true. Almost everyone here supports Ron Paul and likely voted for him in the primaries, and all the left-wingers I know were Kucinich supporters (at least early on), yet we were saddled with Obama vs McCain?

Pretty amazing isn't is? I believe that Obama won due to his image of being an anti-war candidate and the media portraying Kucinich as a kook. As far as the Republicans go, McCain winning the primary proves to me that the average Republican voter is much further to the left than they are portrayed as being. More proof of that is the fact that Romney leads the polls of registered Republicans.

I recall at least three people telling me they were supporting Obama because "we need a black president". I should have made some "Mugabe 2008" buttons for them, since race, not policy seemed to top their agenda.
