I wrote an article called 5 Places NOT To Be When The Dollar Collapses. In it I wrote that societies that benefited the most from the dollar would be the worst places to be when it fell apart. While the dollar has not even collapsed yet, the strain in these areas is becoming more apparent. England is number 3 on the list has had 4 days of violent riots as people start to lose it. Israel is number 1 on that list has had massive protests. There is revolution in the air all over the world except in the US.

America is still in deep denial which is still the first stage of the Awakening. This denial will be wiped away when the dollar collapses. For now the economy is still functioning with food and fuel available. Americans still have the illusion of wealth and normalcy. They still are stuck in the false left right paradigm and think some other sock puppet will turn things around.

When the dollar collapses, all American illusions will collapse with it. Deep denial will turn into deep anger. The violence I expect in the other 3 areas on the list and all urban areas in the US, will make all other global riots pale in comparison. America is deeply infused with arrogance, denial, narcissism, drugs and violence. There is no other society that I know of that has the degree of intensity and combination of these factors.

I don't believe the dollar will ever collapse, but ... if America had riots, the Second Amendment would assure that they'd be bloodier than the British riots.

the Second Amendment

What don't you like about the Second Amendment?

What other parts of the Constitution don't you like?

Perhaps. I agree the dollar is not likely going to collapse - completely. However, it is being so rapidly debased and devalued it might as well.

As for the violence scenario I'm not so sure. Massive rioting might be bloodier - initially but I think you would see spontaneous organization of "Citizens Safety Committees". Basically a self organizing system as suggested by Chaos Theory. I don't like lynch mobs or the lynch mob mentality, but you get a few looters dangling from street posts and very quickly the cost benefit ratio turns away from looting.

As Robert Heinlein pointed out in one of his novels "armed societies are polite societies". When you have a high likelihood of paying for a breach of the peace, or rudeness, with your life it changes the calculus.

During the Revolution lead could be dug out of trees and other bullet catches and re-cast with ease.

But for well over a year the ammo manufacturers have been selling the bulk of their ammo overseas (where it commands premium prices) and the result is scarce supplies here at home. (after govt orders are filled of course)

Those who have tried to stock up on ammo for popular rifle and handgun calibers have found that the ammo is either back ordered or frightfully expensive or both.

Trying to get .223-5.56, .308-7.62, 9mm, .40 cal, etc., has been a real problem for those who waited until banksters and govt agents were pacing the floor and worrying about their hides. And, it will be no more difficult for Los Federales to declare an emergency and halt the sale of ammo than it was for the City Of Los Angeles to do the same during the Los Angeles riots of 1992.

Those who haven't stocked up on ammo or reloading components well ahead of the transparent attempt to create the present artificial shortage and price gouging may find that an enviable firearms collection with only token numbers of rounds per firearm may for too many Americans render the 2nd amendment meaningless. And as in The Congo the fearsome bands of machete gangs may be extremely effective here, too.

If you think it was a crime to see the gouging for plywood, screws, generators, fuel, etc., after each hurricane made landfall in Florida, wait until you see folks trading a Krugerrand for each box of RNL .38 spl ammo.

For years we've been warned to "get out of paper and get into lead" but many if not most scoffed at this paranoia. In the land of plenty they could not even imagine that the ammo wouldn't be there when they wanted it. And here we are not yet at critical mass and the ammo is already getting scarce.

Check out this dealer and notice that the popular .223 ammo is out of stock but the other stuff can still be purchased-for an arm and a leg! (Non-reloadable steel cases and for imported handgun ammo with Berdan primed cases (with two flash holes) will mean that each precious round will be fired once and the cases will be left to lay

And, your faith in the dollar is little more than whistling past the cemetery as the nations who have been buying our funny munny debt paper are bracing for the day when they break the sad news to us.

Once the former America is conquered the new motto on the clenched fist flag will be "MEE WANT WITE WUMMAN"!

How much purchasing power must the dollar decrease before you catch a clue? When you pay for a ten dollar loaf of bread? Or a billion, like Zimbabwe? Do you realize that the uprising in Egypt came about because of the increasing price of bread?

World reserve status props up the dollar, but most nations have already shifted to a basket of currencies while Americans wallow in denial......
