The chairman of Pakistani Senate has hailed Iran's initiative to hold an international conference on Palestinian Intifada (uprising) as an opportunity to show solidarity with the Palestinian nation.

Farooq Naik made the remark in a meeting with Head of Iran-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group Ali Akbar Aqayee, ISNA reported on Saturday.

Aqaee submitted Iran's Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani's letter of invitation to Naik to participate in the 5th International Conference in Support of Palestinian Intifada, slated to take place in the Iranian capital Tehran on October 1-2.

Naik welcomed the invitation and said Iran and Pakistan, as two friendly and influential Muslim countries, should step up efforts to resolve the Palestinian issue.

Aqaee, for his part, said that unity among Muslim countries would provide the best opportunity to help them out of difficulties.

He expressed optimism that the Tehran conference would devise strategies to foster unity among Muslim nations and offer solutions to the Palestinian issue.

Iran plans to hold the 5th International Conference in Support of Palestinian Intifada to show solidarity with the Intifada staged by Palestinians against the Israeli regime.

Representatives and officials from different Muslim and non-Muslim countries are to attend the conference that is sponsored by the Majlis.

The conference seeks to find solutions for achieving the rights and ideals of Palestinians.
