I need an inexpensive digital video camera basically for creating short videos for my youtube channel for biz.

I may also use it for family etc.

I don't want a piece of crap but at the same time I don't want to spend much. LOL

~ $100 or so.

What do I need to look for?

Does youtube require certain formats? etc.

You might want to consider the new camcorders that are YouTube friendly, many have built-in editing and sharing software.

I like my little Canon PowerShot SD750. It's very user friendly.

That's your best bet. It won't last as long as a new one, but it should be much cheaper.

If you get used or new:

Most digital cameras now take good videos.

Not one with double a batteries. They don't last long enough. Lithium ion is the way to go. Most new cameras have them.

Most will have the usb cord. Better to get one with an SD card or a memory stick if you have a computer that accepts those.

Uploading to youtube is easy once you've done it a few times.

For $100 you're better off getting a used one cuz it'll be better than a $100 new one.

i prefer the mini dv which uses small inexpensive tapes. You can reuse. I get sony or equivalent. They have a firewire connection to the puter. Then i use windows movie maker for editing. Once your movie is complete, even a retard can upload it to youtube.

Forgot to say, they will almost all upload to youtube no prob. Try it out before you buy it maybe.

Go for high numbers with megapixels (definition), Gb of memory and zoom.

Here are some examples of ones for sale. Nowhere near you of course. Find your own used stuff site. ; )

If you don't know, you should be able to get items for about 2/3 to 3/4 the asking price.

i like having my videos on actual tape. if your old camera has a way to upload to your computer, (firewire? that is the orange little cable) then you wouldnt need a new camera at all, to proceed to youtube.Upload the raw footage & edit w/WMM if needed.

yes, irregardless of the method of transfering video to your computer, you can edit it in windows movie maker. i like the program. if you dont want to edit, simply load the video into wmm & make the movie as is. (simply the vid, w/ no subtitles, edits, etc)
