This pic was snapped by my 25 year old puppy with his digital camera. In the past he's returned with inexplicable orbs from this dark bridge. (You've seen one you've seen 'em all) There are no street lights on this rural road so he avails of either moonlight and/or camera flash. The bridge is about 30 yards long and 18 feet wide and the object in the background is a street sign. There are no other signs or objects in the foreground or middle of the bridge. The bridge has dark colored guard rails. CRYBABY BRIDGE This bridge was a fave destination because of the noises and orbs, but this pic gave us all a genuine case of the willies and "Snakeyboy" and his squeeze, "Batgirl" haven't been back to the place since. Was the pic cropped or is it the whole thing?

I take it a flash used in this shot?

not cropped and with a flash.

It might be the reflection of the sign in the lense itself. The same effect as in movies where they pan across the sun and many circles appear all lined up with the sun.

If so it should be able to be duplicated. Use the same camera and try taking more pics of another street sign at night at the same distance where the sign is slightly off the center of the pic. Of course make sure the flash is on.

Right, and thanks.

Correction.

I just spoke with my son and NO FLASH was used (The EXIF data verified that no flash was used-he has no reason to tamper with that data nor did he expect me or anyone else to even ask to see it) and he quote "tried everything to duplicate the shot" including more than one trip back to the bridge with different moon and starlight conditions and he was unable to approach duplication. (is my face red!)

He wants me to add that he did enhance the photo with the auto tone button in Adobe Lightroom for optimal viewing and contrast. (he was "going through the pix and auto-toning for the Hell of it"-he didn't expect to see any images when that one popped up)

Based on this info I'd have to say that the pic really gives me the willies! And, I just learned that he had the pic for at least a year on his computer before he perused his late night photo efforts and discovered it.

Here's an overlay of the "ghost image" with a night time bridge pic w/ flash, taken from as close to the original spot as possible:

Hmmmm. that's interesting. Thanks for the update.

What of the scratchy thing on the right side? On the original pic it looked like a bush or small tree but on the overlay it seems it couldn't have been that. It's interesting that the size and shape of it matches the cigarette smoking ghost. hehe.

Well, the way the sign is illuminated suggests that there *had* to be some light source near or behind the camera. Maybe a headlight?

Maybe a headlight?

No. Moon, stars or a supernatural source.

Very interesting........I've been thinking a bit on this issue. In order for physics to address the phenomenon, we must at least consider that both time and space work as energies, this would at least begin to explain ghosts. : )

So there, that's my two cents for the day.

Only street signs themselves are coated with the reflective paint, but not the post it's mounted on. It's interesting that the original photo shows both the post and the sign itself equally bright. And what's that triangular object right next to the post?

My son is quite certain that there was no visible light source behind him (they would hide whenever a car came because they didn't want to explain to cops why they were there in the middle of the night, with the usual snoopy cop car searches and "you match the description of a suspect we're searching for", pat downs, etc.,

He is a very savvy individual for his age and he's at a complete loss to explain the photo. He's had a measure of success in photographing orbs and such and like all hobbyist ghost hunters he was hoping to capture something more. This photo is an "embarrassment of riches" and it actually disturbed him, and now me.

Exactly. It appears to be coated with the traffic paint and glass beads used on the highway lines to make them *reflective, and in DE the small roadside advisory signs are not reflective at all, particularly on rural roads.

Regarding the triangular shaped object next to the sign, I wish I knew what it was and "Snakeyboy" doesn't know, either.

_______________________

*In my youth I painted those lines from a specially equipped truck known as a "long liner", so named because we could paint forever without refilling the paint or glass beads-I painted the lines on the FLA turnpike once and lived to tell about it-sitting in a chair on the back with a steering wheel to move the paint gun left or right as needed.

I once drove the electronic sign truck behind the long liner which advised coked-up fast moving motorists to change lanes to avoid crashing into the slow moving paint caravan-and I almost got creamed more than once by cars that changed lanes at the last second.

One of the "bosses" was promoted not for his management or people skills, but because he had his face nearly ripped off by a tractor trailer mirror while sitting in the paint chair.

At the end of the day we'd wash to the elbows (traffic paint is hard to remove) with Trichloroethylene (TCE) before it was classified as a probable carcinogen and its use greatly restricted. It was also a known ground water contaminant including the water in the town of Woburn, Massachusetts, the town from the book and John Travolta film "A Civil Action"

When I recall all of the nasties I inhaled and had soaking through my skin it's a miracle I don't resemble The Pachyderm Dude, Joseph Merrick.

I find it fascinating Hounddawg! There is definitely something peculiar captured in the photo. I say: BRAVO! : )

What do you think the "orbs" are? I have a friend who also takes many photos of them, some are HUGE and they are in many colors.

What do you think the "orbs" are?

One man videoed big, bright, fast moving orbs coming in from the outside after circling his home, and they danced around inside in what most would normally view as intelligent movements.

I don't know what they are but I'm confident of what there aren't-swamp gas, St. Elmo's Fire, ball lightning or plasma. Despite my limited understanding of some of these I believe them all to be natural phenomena. And orbs that are not visible except in photos belong in the "other stuff" category, which to my limited human understanding means either intelligent life or remotely controlled by same, perhaps after crossing a dimensional barrier of which I know nothing.

The explanation I read of how those UFOs filmed above the upper atmosphere that are zipping along at 20 times the speed of sound can make sudden stops, starts and right angle turns without the inertia killing the critter holding the throttle/stick/collective was the most plausible I've seen to date. The vehicles (and I believe they are occupied vehicles) are actually in another dimension or straddling the fence in such a way that inertia has no effect on them.

Of course if the little green hermaphrodites inside have overcome the problems of propulsion and they extract energy from the vacuum (as Tesla did 100 years ago with his electric car that required no battery, turbine or solar collectors) then perhaps inertia is no more of a nuisance for them than the wind spoiling my carefully coiffed "Conway Twitty hairdo" in a Volvo with the windows rolled tightly up. If they can cancel inertia ("the property of matter in motion unless acted upon by an external force"-Klaatu from....France. "Yeah, that's it. Me and Gort here, we're from France....") the way we can cancel sound with white noise then perhaps our lying ass govt has already reverse engineered the technology and they're keeping it secret for the day when they finally announce that they're our masters and not our servants. "And when you hear the alarms annunciate you're to head for the giant termite mounds and climb down to our subterranean bistros and begin coating yourselves with barbecue sauce....."

If we could go back to early Mesopotamia and meet those who understood their fruit juice-acid and zinc-copper batteries (actually they're cells) and then demo a Honda generator by stringing up and energizing a few dozen 100 watt incandescent light bulbs they would no doubt be as mystified as I am at the amazing technology used by Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen or whoever they are, circling our planet at any given moment. On the other hand the "primitive concierge" assigned to our group may whip out a crystal and move a 300 ton stone, a feat which we cannot accomplish today.
