All of Northern Japan, if not ALL of Japan and any nearby islands, are DOOMED if they don't evacuate to a far off land ASAP. If the technology existed which could dig the molten core out of the earth below the nuclear reactors, then seal it in some leak proof vessel which would withstand intense heat and radiation for a century or more, then a remedy could be implemented. Short of that, they are SCREWED, and so are we if that molten core hits the water table.

That's what it is looking like to me.
I'd say they are BEING exposed to a lot more than just "low" radiation...
Pretty much appears that the corium has breeched the containment structure. Not supposed to happen.
My radiation alarm hasn't gone off in several days, so I went in the den to check the reading. The battery was dead. New battery. Beep, beep, beep, beep. Much less bad. I need to reset the alarm threshold higher.

Not again. Those poor people. And I suspect that the US will see an unimaginable spike in cancers too, doubtlessly the result of second hand tobacco smoke.
