A total of 20 passengers on the Shenzhen-Hefei K256 train bore witness and submitted testimony with their signatures and fingerprints, the report said. According to a female passenger surnamed Lai, the incident took place at 00:05 at Ganzhou railway station in Jiangxi province. A passenger next to her was quarreling with train stewards on the No 15 car, and another man came to make peace between them, when a train vendor suddenly stormed in from the No 14 car and held the mediator's neck and beat him through the cars. During the altercation, the mediator may have been hit on his temple. Three stewards, including a man in a conductor's uniform, hit the mediator, and by the time the ambulance arrived, the man was already dead, Lai said. Comments: Sam What kind of service we get from a state owned industry. Should the transport minister resign? This kind of education level and mentality, not one but four people involved, indicate a big problem of a society -- poor education, poor training and low expectation from the top. China looks beautiful and prosperous, but rotten through deep down! such a peaceful, harmonious society, HAHA!!! maybe the Chinese ought to hear what the government keeps saying about itself, its obvious no one is listening or cares... Under Chinese Law the defender is deemed as an attacker too, and that is the reason people dont get involved, especially with a guy in whatever uniform. It is a sad fact of human nature, that some of those with a uniform feel that they are above or outside the law. Too bad the uniform does not bestow special insight, along with special powers. Tatarewicz:Government goons are the same the world over. Their thinking, what little they are capable of, is easily paralyzed in confrontational situations so they can only respond emotionally/mechanically; in no position to listen like a judge and then make a decision. They just follow instructions/regulations to maintain order or whatever. Best to reserve your "mediation" until the case comes to court, no matter what the commonsense solution may be. People of North Africa and MidEast have started a revolution against this kind of bureaucratic hooliganism.
