A German football fan died on Friday evening after urinating on a train track and being hit by a high-speed train

The 43-year-old from Wiesbaden died on the way to hospital after the incident at Rüsselheim Opelwerke station where he and two friends had been waiting for a train home.

They had previously watched their second Bundesliga team Eintracht Frankfurt beat Union Berlin by 3-1.

A police spokesman said the three men had taken a local train from the stadium – but had got off early at the Rüsselheim Opelwerke station because the 43-year-old desperately needed to relieve himself.

When they got to the station he had run to the end of the platform and jumped down into the train tracks to urinate. He was hit by the ICE as it drove through the station and was left seriously injured at the side of the tracks.

His friends called the emergency services immediately and the tracks were closed to trains for an hour to enable them to attend to him, but he died on the way to hospital.

The driver of the ICE suffered serious shock.

Always good to carry a suitable bottle in a knapsack; never know when some diuretic or whatever will bring about a sudden urge.

The relationship between morality and liberty is a directly proportional one.

He had to be drunk -- and on beer if he couldn't hold it.

43 years is a bit young to be prostate related urge. Bladder stones can trigger an uncontrollable urge, especially with a bunch of stuff in the rectum or some blocked up gas. Another trigger would be a cold chill. But very likely beer or some other liquid refreshment was his undoing.

Isn't that a good way to get electrocuted?

It is vital to understand that there is no truth without discernment and no wisdom without the truth. What then is “faith” but an effort to confound truth and wisdom?

Light rail transit cars in a city don't have have toilets; just one at each station, so there's often a line up. As I mentioned as sudden spasm can take place and you can't hold water. In a sitting or sleeping position urine will accumulate in the bladder with little urgency to void. But when you stand up the "valve" is suddenly triggered to open; bladder muscles seem to put intense pressure to void. So unless the sphincter has seized up a bladder stone, gas or bolus accumulation nearby, drop in temperature or whatever else would cause you to wet your pants. Like I said at around 40ish it's not a bad idea to have an empty half liter bottle when there's not going to be access to a washroom.
