Rising atheism in America puts 'religious right on the defensive'

Actually I think I would reword the headline as: Christian NeoCon pseudo-Christian Right puts atheism on the rise

Why?

Because the support of grotesque and inexcusable crimes against humanity are increasingly being rejected. To use a perversion of the Christian faith as justification for murder and pillage is a real turn off. That does not mean that there is no God nor that religion is without value, but that the perversion of religion is what many people perceive as the truth of religion.

As for the atheist kooks all they really want to do is exactly what they accuse others of i.e., to FORCE their beliefs upon others. Freedom OF Religion is not the same as Freedom FROM Religion. The former is tolerance of differing beliefs and the latter is the enshrinement of intolerance of differing beliefs.

An atheist has simply never met or experienced God. They don't believe what they don't know. Can't really blame them.

Anyone who is turned off by religion because of what some do in the name of god has likely never experienced or met God either.

Simple stuff for anyone that has.

Perhaps, and it is also not real to them that they are a spiritual entity and not a meat body. They have bought into the concept of materialism i.e., that matter is what matters and that all we are is animate sacks of water, chemicals, and meat. Interestingly, there is less proof for that hypothesis than for the existence of God and that man is more than meat. However, they (the atheists) are always amusing in that they are as convinced of the rightness of their position, based on their faith in materialism, as is a 3rd grade edumacated backwoods Parson. The Parson has the advantage though as he is at least sniffing in the direction of truth. You read my toasting of Alan Chapman (who has never posted here since) and can see the illogic and insubstantial nature of the atheistic arguments when they are rigorously explored.

Where P is the belief in God and Spirituality and ~P is the negation of that or the rejection in the belief in God and Spirituality you can dissect their position, slice and dice, using their own supposed weapon of "logic" against them. That is of course because their beliefs are faith in the belief in the nonexistence of God. And that is a position for which they can produce no evidence more substantial than: "Because!!!!!!"

"I haven't experienced it therefore it doesn't exist."
