So, who is the danger to world peace? -- b_w, 22:42:51 10/11/11 Tue Since the 1979 Iranian revolution and the downfall of the US Puppet Ruler the Shah, Iran has been an Islamic state. In that interval of time, 1979 to the present, Iran has not invaded anyone. Not once. People of all religions live in peace in Iran, even Jews, who find life so comfortable in Iran they refused an offer by the government of Israel to emigrate!

In the same period of time, the United States, officially a secular nation but predominantly Christian, attacked El Salvador (1980), Libya (1981), Sinai (1982), Lebanon (1982 1983), Egypt (1983), Grenada (1983), Honduras (1983), Chad (1983), Persian Gulf (1984), Libya (1986) , Bolivia (1986), Iran (1987), Persian Gulf (1987), Kuwait (1987), Iran (1988), Honduras (1988), Panama (1988), Libya (1989), Panama (1989), Colombia, Bolivia, and Peru (1989), Philippines (1989), Panama (1989-1990), Liberia (1990), Saudi Arabia (1990), Iraq (1991), Zaire (1991), Sierra Leone (1992), Somalia (1992), Bosnia-Herzegovina (1993 to present), Macedonia (1993), Haiti (1994), Macedonia (1994), Bosnia (1995), Liberia (1996), Central African Republic (1996), Albania (1997), Congo/Gabon (1997), Sierra Leon (1997), Cambodia (1997), Iraq (1998), Guinea/Bissau (1998), Kenya/Tanzania (1998 to 1999), Afghanistan/Sudan (1998), Liberia (1998), East Timor (1999), Serbia (1999), Sierra Leon (2000), Yemen (2000), East Timor (2000), Afghanistan (2001 to present), Yemen (2002), Philippines (2002) , Cote d'Ivoire (2002), Iraq (2003 to present), Liberia (2003), Georgia/Djibouti (2003), Haiti (2004), Georgia/Djibouti/Kenya/Ethiopia/Yemen/Eritrea War on Terror (2004), Pakistan drone attacks (2004 to present), Somalia (2007), South Ossetia/Georgia (2008), Syria (2008), Yemen (2009), Haiti (2010), etc. etc. etc. etc.

i posted it on my FB page and got this reply~

I'm sorry Christine ... This is the way I feel! I was born American! I served in the United States Army (and damned proud of it). I believe in defending our security and way of life! THIS IS AMERICA, LOVE OR LEAVE IT!

to which i replied~

John, if those were my only two options, I would leave it but, fortunately, I can love my country and also disagree with and criticize its government. If some time in the future, you disagreed with the actions of the government and expressed it, I wouldn't tell you to LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT. I am convinced that the Military Industrial Complex is completely out of control (see President Eisenhower's warning) and that War is a Racket (see General Smedley Butler's commentary) (both are presented in video on YouTube)

and then a likeminded friend slamdunked with this one~

I served in the Army as well John and I agree with you in principle of defense of security and way of life however being born an American doesn't make us masters over the rest of the people on this planet. It also doesn't entitle us to blow their shit up, destroy countries and kill thousands upon thousands of civilians around the world. It also doesn't make us safer. It pisses people off. It certainly would me if it was happening here. Having troops in almost every country in the world doesn't help either. It makes us an empire. If you want a historical perspective on what happens to empires reference the Roman empire, the British empire to name a couple. They get arrogant, overextended, fight wars that bleed them financially dry, make enemies who fight back and the empire eventually falls. Your statement AMERICA LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT is bs. I was born as American as you were and I want to live in a country that prospers because it has good relations with other countries not the America where your version of fascism exists.

You'd be surprised how many soldiers would agree with your opinion, christine. You are not alone to feel as you do. Our military is just as seriously messed up as our government. It one thing to be patriotic but still another to blindly serve a government that does not serve this country's interest or represent it either and also putting our soldiers lives in danger by sending them overseas to blindly overthrow foreign governments when we should just be leaving those governments alone and take care of own affairs by protecting our borders. Most of our government leaders wipe their asses with our flag all the while our troops are dying everyday.

It is the people proud of their military service for America that bother me the most. It is wise to steer clear of these people. When the tshtf, these people will keep being proud and target you cause their government told them too.

Ask him how he defended America? That should make the proud soldier go nuts with rage, cause not one of them has in the last 60 years.
