Health Benefits of Garlic

Beware! It's the Opposite of What you Might Think -

Garlic Desynchronises your Brainwaves!

The reason garlic is so toxic, the sulphone hydroxyl ion penetrates the blood-brain barrier, just like DMSO, and is a specific poison for higher-life forms and brain cells. We discovered this, much to our horror, when I (Bob Beck, DSc) was the world's largest manufacturer of ethical EEG feedback equipment.

We'd have people come back from lunch that looked clinically dead on an encephalograph, which we used to calibrate their progress. "Well, what happened?" "Well, I went to an Italian restaurant and there was some garlic in my salad dressing!" So we had them sign things that they wouldn't touch garlic before classes or we were wasting their time, their money and my time.

I guess some of you who are pilots or have been in flight tests...I was in flight test engineering in Doc Hallan's group in the 1950's. The flight surgeon would come around every month and remind all of us: "Don't you dare touch any garlic 72 hours before you fly one of our airplanes, because it'll double or triple your reaction time. You're three times slower than you would be if you'd not had a few drops of garlic."

Well, we didn't know why for 20 years later, until I owned the Alpha-Metrics Corporation. We were building biofeed-back equipment and found out that garlic usually desynchronises your brain waves.

So I funded a study at Stanford and, sure enough, they found that it's a poison. You can rub a clove of garlic on your foot - a you can smell it shortly later on your wrists. So it penetrates the body. This is why DMSO smells a lot like garlic: that sulphone hydroxyl ion penetrates all the barriers including the corpus callosum in the brain.

Any of you who are organic gardeners know that if you don't want to use DDT, garlic will kill anything in the way of insects.

Now, most people have heard most of their lives garlic is good for you, and we put those people in the same class of ignorance as the mothers who at the turn of the century would buy morphine sulphate in the drugstore and give it to their babies to put'em to sleep.

If you have any patients who have low-grade headaches or attention deficit disorder, they can't quite focus on the computer in the after-noon, just do an experiment - you owe it to yourselves. Take these people off garlic and see how much better they get, very very shortly. And then let them eat a little garlic after about three weeks. They'll say "My God, I had no idea that this was the cause of our problems." And this includes the de-skunked garlic's, Kyolic, some of the other products.

Very unpopular, but I've got to tell you the truth.

Editor's Notes:

1) Taoists and some other spiritual practices recommend against eating any garlic, onions, green onions (shallots), chives or leeks. This is because they believe they attract negative energies - bad energies love bad smells. However, I understand that the problem with garlic is much more serious than this, due to the reasons above. It has very toxic chemicals in it, in addition to the spiritual effects.

2) I was emailed that because garlic is meant to be a blood purifier, that maybe the brain changes are caused by toxins coming out into the bloodstream. Maybe. But I believe that is not the case. Generally, the stronger something tastes, the more toxins it has. That's what gives it flavor. For example, no woman with morning sickness wants to be anywhere near garlic. If it was not toxic, you could sit down to a meal of garlic. And would smell fine aterwards!

3) READ THE LABEL! SOME FOODS THAT CONTAIN GARLIC:

Some chips Sweet chili sauce (There's as much garlic in it as chili! Plus it's 50% sugar)

4) ALTERNATIVE TO GARLIC: Use fresh ginger

UPDATE: I personally believe that anything that kills microbes, is bad for your health when there is nothing wrong with you, especially long-term. But if there is some kind of disease, then garlic may be useful for a while. Here are some positive reports on garlic from a reader:

"Garlic is a very powerful herb. I dissolved a tumor in my neck with it. It took about 3 hours. Doctors would have put me in surgery and cut me open and done who knows what damage to my neck and spine in order to get it out. And it won’t take you to the brink of death while performing this miraculous feat.

Taken internally injunction with a poultice type bandage applied directly on the affected area, garlic can heal almost any type of terminal issue. Obviously some forms that have gone into the latter stages cannot be helped without divine intervention but there are few exceptions to this.

H1N1 or H5N1? Forget it!! Garlic will wipe this out in a few hours. It will also take out the flora in your digestive track but a few servings of fruits and vegetables and yogurt will replenish this in no time at all.

I do understand the challenge with garlic and the very delicate processes of the brain and the barrier between the brain and cranial blood flow. When you eat several cloves of garlic, you can feel it. However, the effects are never permanent and they can be countered at the time simply by eating or drinking the juice from a head of parsley. In juicing terms, that would be approximately 2 ounces, which of course should be mixed 50% - 50% with a carrot juice, but this will counter act the effects of the sulphone ion on the brain processes."

Actually, one can have a personal experience of how toxic garlic is. But to do so requires that one gets their body to a state of health where it recognizes things that are bad for it. As an example, if you take cigarettes, when a child is first exposed to a cigarette, the child body reacts and rejects the cigarette. But if the child is insistant, the body adapts and then actually begins to enjoy the cigarette. To get to a state of health where the body again rejects the cigarette, the body might need to be cigarette free for a long period of time, so that the health of that body can improve to once again reject cigarettes.

Same is true for garlic. If you abstain from garlic long enough, and in the meantime heal the issues or symptoms in the body that perhaps the garlic was meant to heal, the body can get to a state where it doesn't like garlic.

Why do people consume garlic medicinally? Because garlic makes symptoms disappear. If you have some kind of detox, say a cold, or bacterial overgrowth, or whatever, and you take garlic, your body quits detoxing. Why? Because the garlic is way more poisonous than whatever your body was detoxing with the original symptoms.

I am not telling anyone to not eat garlic. But I am saying that it is not a health food, but it is a symptom supressor. If you are OK with this, then enjoy. And while some garlic will not kill you, it will kill cells it comes in contact with in your body. This is why your body works extra hard to release it though your skin. Letting your digestive system handle the garlic is not quick enough for your body's needs.

Tamukha, why was Bob Beck's research with garlic not legitimate. He paid scientists to test garlic, and he published his results. Isn't this what all people who commission some scientific research do?

Beck's findings have not been evaluated clinically by others, and they have not been published in legitimate research tracts. Also, talk like this is not scientific:

I am very interested in alternative diagnostic equipment, and hope someday diagnostic disciplines like BioPhysics become mainstream, but whatever "ethical" ECG biofeedback equipment is, it is not accepted science that can be commonly evaluated the way an MRI can be. Now, If Robert Beck, DSc, can replicate his results using standard EEGs, ECGs, CTs or the like, I will reconsider what he says about garlic. Some people are greatly misinterpreting what Dr. Beck is proposing. He is not saying you will die by consuming garlic or even notice awful side effects. He is saying that it is shown to affect brainwave activity, reaction time and kill brain cells. Of course like many things it can take years for this to actually result in anything huge or to even be quantified in any smack you between the eyes way. But according to the research it is not good for you, can affect healing, health and just like many undesirables, like say smoking, you may not realise how it hampers you at the time or what it can cause until it you are hit with a problem like lack of concentration or emotional instability. According to Dr. Beck and his observations and then Stanford research it can affect the brain, mind and healing/living process adversely. Of course people will point to the Italians and say 'Well they don't DIE', but no large scale research has been done into how garlic eaters are possibly affected compared with non-garlic eaters. In the fifties when the first murmurs of the dangers of smoking were exposed people scoffed then too as there were so many smokers, and it was often stated that the chain smoking French were doing just fine. Of course it is now well proven that smoking is very bad for your health. That's not to say many things don't carry benefit too. Garlic is known as an antibiotic, but it is also proven to be indiscrimate as to what it kills, be it bad bacteria, good bacteria or brain cells. And as it passes the blood brain barrier, to the more fragile brain cells, it can seemingly cause problems with the most crucial organ we have. I've even found research saying it was helpful with brain tumors for the very same reason: It appears to carry a poison that kills brain cells.

Would be hard for academics to get funding for such a study. Might even be worthwhile to check with family and friends of Azheimers patients to see if they were heavily into garlic. If you ate a bunch of garlic and then engaged in some activity that required an increased blood supply the garlic toxins therein could wipe out a bunch of brain cells in part of your brain. But usually not a problem because the brain has a huge "unused" surplus of brain cells.

I had a very good friend (deceased) that took Garlic and Cayenne every day for decades. He had experienced a heart attack some 25 or 30 years prior to his death and was proscribed a bunch of pharmaceuticals that made him feel tired and run down to the point of suicide.

He went to a health food store and the owner of the shop recommended that he quit the drugs and take cayenne and garlic, which he did every day for the next 30 years or so.

He was very alert and healthy until the moment his heart exploded. He died in a matter of seconds.

If you believe this article then you would be right to suspect such, but this article is very misleading. When garlic is ate it is digested and the harmful toxins to the body are destroyed in the stomach. There is a high probability that this very poorly done study was funded by pharmaceutical companies. The reason for the slower reaction times after eating garlic does not mean it is killing brain cells or hurting the brain in any way. Garlic is known to decrease blood pressure after eating it. This very well could reduce reaction time after eating a lot of garlic.

Apparently the garlic toxin is the sulphone hydroxyl ion which will kill bacteria and which is responsible for bad breath. Since the foul smell lasts for hours that would mean the ion remains in the bloodstream long enough to pass into brain and perhaps other cells causing the few of them that are reached to die. I used to chew a clove of garlic to purge bacteria from my mouth but that didn't seem to work as well as brushing with bar soap and rinsing with a saline solution.
