On October 26, 2001, President George W. Bush signed into law the USA Patriot Act, which in effect gutted the Bill of Rights. Ten years later, whatever success America has had in routing out terrorists has been overshadowed by a society in which the police presence in America has exploded, with unconstitutional and SWAT team tactics increasingly condoned by the courts; the right to be considered innocent until proven guilty has been usurped by a new norm in which all citizens are suspects in a surveillance state; and the right to travel has been subjected to draconian security measures. This article points out the disintegration of our rights since the Patriot Act. (And that is a good thing). Many were sensitive to the loss of liberty long before the Patriot Act and their moment of clarity came when the Weavers were gunned down prior to the Branch Davidian slaughter by government forces with impunity. These brazen murders were committed in order to acclimate Americans to the future intents of the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT and to test the spirit and resolve of the citizens at large. Americans attacked by the FEDERAL AUTHORITY flies in the face of the fundamental principles and laws of this country. The lack of response spits in the face of the great men that have fought, bled and died to preserve the liberty and peace that once described this nation. "the man who puts all the guns and all the decision-making power into the hands of the central government and then says, Limit yourself; it is he who is truly the impractical utopian." Murray Rothbard

The relationship between morality and liberty is a directly proportional one. None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free. That's what all that shock and awe on 9/11 was all about - to get the sheeple to consent to the Patriot Act to protect them from al CIAaeda. If you're going to complain about it, they'll have to go trolling for bin Laden.
