It was never a secret that the Federal Reserve is a Congressionally-chartered corporation, which, like many other such corporations, is legally treated as private and not entitled to sovereign-immunity. This has been openly admitted for as long as I can remember but somehow everyone who suddenly realizes the world isn't flat thinks that this is a big revelation.
