There is a new ‘war on drugs’ in this day and age. Everybody knows the dangers and risks of illegal drugs as well as addiction and fatal injury, but it may be surprising for some to discover that some of the most dangerous drugs are not the illegal, but the legally prescribed pharmaceuticals being perpetuated on a daily basis.

In 2009, it was recognized that prescription drugs were responsible for more deaths than traffic accidents. Prescription drugs such as painkillers are killing more people than top illegal substances like cocaine and heroin combined while selling rates soar — as well as unnecessary painkiller use.

Rush Limbaugh was one of the first people to popularize the issue regarding pharmaceutical painkiller dependency and the harmful effects. However, pharmaceutical painkillers are only but one of the many drugs ruining our society today.

Not only are pharmaceutical painkillers and other dangerous drugs like antipsychotics handed out like candy, but some are even introduced without testing, or even use perverted study results in an attempt to convey the false image of legitimacy. Drug companies like Merck and Baxter are notorious for their grimy misconduct and fraudulent practice in fervent promotion of their dangerous products.

The most ridiculous fact is that these drugs are legally pushed thanks to careless FDA regulation, and receive little scrutiny by the mainstream legal establishment despite many prominent health officials speaking out. These drugs are cleverly concealed under the guise of ‘treating’ disease, while substances like marijuana that have actually been linked to improved health are categorized as highly illegal and dangerous by the federal government. This is a literal Pharmageddon in which medical science peddles harmful pharmaceuticals while toting the supposed dangers of vitamins and minerals.

Of course in the past 27 years vitamins have been effectively linked to 0 deaths, while pharmaceuticals have killed over 3 million individuals.

Rather than popping a pill in an attempt to resolve health issues instantly, real health and wellness starts with the individual removing themselves from the medical paradigm. The key to health rejuvenation includes supplementing with whole food based vitamins and minerals, proper nutrition, exercise and a full understanding of the many pitfalls of mainstream medical science. It starts with the realization that your health is in your hands, and that you have the power to optimize your health.

Big Pharma has the Fraud and Death Administration and the CIA has death squads and hitmen.

Prescription drug abuse is rampant where I practice. The drug companies have to know their drugs are being diverted, but they continue to take in the money. Very sad.

I agree that it is sad. However, the Pharma Complex not only knows it but they encourage it sending their reps around to encourage off-label use. (A few whistle blowers have gone public but the mainstream press is bought off by advertising money so it is not covered.) While I am willing to grant that some Pharma products are beneficial most could be replaced with herbals that are often just as effective with few, if any, side effects, but this is discouraged because of the big money involved - which to some people is more important than any amount of ill they cause.

I know you are an M.D. so I want to tread carefully because despite my somtimes caustic outrage I don't see all MDs as bad, but the education you are given influences how you see and what you see. A favorite quote of mine, and you may have seen me use it, came from Historian/Documentarian/Polymath James Burke: "What you see is determined by what you know ...". So, through backdoor control of the AMA's accrediting committee Big Pharma controls what Medical School Students are taught. (Take a look at the ads in JAMA sometime and simply ask what influence all of those glossy full page ads are buying.) Of course through that control the emphasis becomes using Big Pharma products. It is a great way to increase demand for their product - although highly unethical. Thankfully more and more MDs are breaking free - Dr. Bill Deagle comes to mind. Although there are others. The problem of course is that the FDA, which is controlled via corruption by Big Pharma, is waging war on any form of treatment which does not use Big Pharma products.

Getting back to the topic of the article problems of human emotion are not "treated" by drugging. You can verify for yourself, but there are NO standardized tests to justify the use of any Psychotropic Drug. It is all purely subjective and varies by individual. Having scientific training I know that it should be obvious to you that, that is NOT science. It is Witch Doctery. Most human emotional problems can be solved simply by having someone to talk to who is non-judgmental and is just willing to listen and ask a question from time to time - basically a Socratic Dialogue for the soul. However, I wax prolix.

Everything you eat, natural or unnatural is a type of drug. In general natural drugs are far less deadly than synthetic drugs. Also, in general natural drugs give more benefits than synthetic drugs. There is big money in patenting a drug. Natural drugs can't be patented so drug companies only have an interest in making synthetic drugs. Once they receive a patent for a drug that may or may not work as advertised they usually make many times over their investment in researching, making, and testing it. Everyone has been conditioned to think pills can solve problems, so the drug companies make billions.

Drug companies are interested in making money period, regardless whether you have a real physical problem or not. So they make anti-depressants and flood TV with commercials about depression and their way to fix it, take their drug. The commercials work or they wouldn't keep airing them. Many people who are not really depressed are taking anti-depressants cause they think they need it.

Agree and disagree. To my mind a drug is any substance which causes an effect in the body to alter awareness, stimulate immune response, ease suffering, or counter disease. Under your definition, which the FDA is trying to put in place, anything which is healthful or promotes good health is a drug. For example there are certain foods which react synergistically with the body to promote better health, but they are foods not drugs as the intent is to nourish as well as possible.

Agreed on the patent issue. Big Pharma is interested in BIG mark-ups. The ingredients in Prozac, and this is from memory, are marked up about 70,000% by the time they are sold to the consumer. While other types of Big Pharma Dope are not quite as high they are in the thousands of percent mark-up. So, they can afford to spend a hundred million to turn a billion in profit. Buying regulators and congresscritters is, to them, just a business cost.

Exactly. A good documentary on it, produced by CCHR, is "The Marketing of Madness" and they go through the whole dirty procedure of creating imaginary diseases out of normal human problems. Like the bloodsuckers they are they are growing fat off of creating misery.
