The "War on Terror" is largely about War on designated "Thought Criminals" -- a continuation of that sort of conditioning which extends at least as far back here as the Charles Manson Trial and probably as far back in modern history as the Nuremberg Trials. After 9/11, bin Laden became the Thought Criminal du jour, also Jose Padilla (although not of the evil-guru variety) and Awlaki too.

In this 4um video, Newt Gingrich: Gov. Should Allow Terror Attacks To Remind People How Much We Need Them, he sounds as if he's advocating acts of terror against us, with a wink and a nod from the State, and also strongly in favor of extraordinary wiretapping/eavesdropping ability for agents of the State. In his own case of unethics summarized below, probably wasn't so much in favor the 4th Amendment being ignored by covert snoopers (Alphabetized like the FBI or not) investigating him and/or his associate(s) for suspect behavior: possible corruption plotting, conspiracy to violate a gag-order against them, and stuff.

I don't know but wouldn't rule it out that he may have been acting as a psyop role-player too -- so as to manipulate perceptions of draconian Police State actions as deserved or to be expected for cult- figures/loonies like him; to stir-up widespread societal-unrest here over the WACO horror maybe. Something like this video's commentary is what I was in the process of explaining earlier, along with a WWI-era example on misinformation, non-information, and lies about the S.S. Sussex, which wasn't sunk with any American victims (as was widely believed at the time by many who were being whooped-up unaware for deadly and devastating years of War abroad to advance the covert agendas of monsterous deceivers; mentioned towards the end of this article: FDR, Pearl Harbor and the U.N. by John V.
