"In a conference call this morning, Herman Cain told his senior staff that he is 'reassessing' whether to remain in the race," reports National Review's Robert Costa. Costa added that Cain told his staff in a conference call that he’ll make his final decision 'over the next several days.'" The report is being confirmed by ABC's Jonathan Karl who tweeted, "Mark Block tells [Amy Walter, ABC's Political News Director] the NRO report is true. Cain told staff today he is "reassessing" whether to stay in the race."

The relationship between morality and liberty is a directly proportional one.

None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.

He's better than cain.

Somebody ought to tell the truth about the Bible. The preachers dare not, because they would be driven from their pulpits. Professors in colleges dare not, because they would lose their salaries. Politicians dare not. They would be defeated. Editors dare not. They would lose subscribers. Merchants dare not, because they might lose customers. Men of fashion dare not, fearing that they would lose caste. Even clerks dare not, because they might be discharged. And so I thought I would do it myself... Robert Ingersoll

Speaking of Eddie Murphy, I worked for his uncle, Hank Murphy, in the Brooklyn North Youth Gang Task Force in the early 70s. He was one solid dude who cared about the decent folks in that 'hood who were then being terrorized by assorted s'bags. I SO RECALL him telling us about how funny his little nephew Eddie was.

On to Cain. With all his baggage, WTF was he thinking?????

"On to Cain. With all his baggage, WTF was he thinking?????"

Not many brain cells in the little head. He should of used the other one to manage his love life.

He's feeling the pressure to call it a day now that many movers and shakers in the party are ringing alarm bells about this. He should have plenty of time to work on his relationship with the old anchor.

He has been an interesting candidate, but his lack of grass roots organizing in key states shows his campaign orbited his sense of hubris, much as he personally orbits his mentors and key supporters, the Koch brothers. He probably has too many 'yes' men and women in his campaign who are more interested in keeping him happy then in doing the drudgery of building a campaign correctly at the grass roots level.

I have always felt he was an excite and stimulate the troops candidate as much as anything, so the coming 'no we Cain't' moment the GOP is going to have soon is no surprise.

Frankly, I don't see much of a conspiracy in this (or almost anything else happening to any candidate this early in the campaign). If the Dems were plotting this, they would have kept Cain at the top of the heap through a number of primaries and, then - after some more formidable candidates had been knocked out of the running, maybe even waiting until Cain gets the nomination, trot out all the scandals. Pretty much the same strategy for dealing with any other Repub candidate.

This trashing of Cain so early in the race suggests that the knife in the back was from a fellow Republican (and maybe more than one).

Very possible. I still haven't a clue why anyone would get into the political arena w/that much personal baggage. Ironically, given the twisted nation we live in, these revelations wouldn't do much damage to an already sitting president. Viva AmeriKa!

I have always felt he was an excite and stimulate the troops candidate as much as anything, so the coming 'no we Cain't' moment the GOP is going to have soon is no surprise.

Having a fondness for Machiavelli, if not his recommended tactics, I have to wonder if this was not intentional by those who choose the winner from behind the curtain. Last time around McCain was about to be forced out due to lack of money and then in one weekend 11 major papers endorsed him and all of a sudden he was the front runner. I said at the time and stand by it now that the reason was to ensure that there would be certified loser given the R nomination so as to ensure Oh'bummer's (s)Election. The reverse was true in Bush-Kerry - except that Kerry probably won but would not contest his Bone's Brothers ballot switching. If you think the national (s)Elections in this country are all on the up and up you are more naive than I thought.

I think that role is being saved for either Newt or Michelle Bachmann.

Keep an eye on Huntsman too.

I think what is going on here is psych games. The intent appears to be to make all of the Republican candidates look like a bunch of clowns and by comparison to make Oh'bummer look steadfast. Of course he is not he's a puppet who dances to someone else's tune, but perception is everything and all the morons who hang by the telly to know what they think are perfect fodder for this type of psych warfare campaign.

The ones financed to run all have baggage by design. Clinton, W, and Obama have so much baggage it is a wonder that the reporters that know the truth and still report their lies can do so with a straight face.

Even though I don't like Cain, there does seem to be a push to get him out of the race for some reason. Maybe his direct connection to the Federal Reserve was bringing too much unwanted attention their way so they had to abandon their plans to make him President and go with plan B, which appears to be Newt right now. Obama is a one term president because of the economy. The only way he gets another term is if the economy miraculously turns around. Newt as president would continue the status quo, nothing would change.

God is always good!
