In what may be the least shocking development of this GOP primary the NYT is reporting that Fox News is interested in hiring Herman Cain.
He is interesting, Bill Shine, Fox Newss executive vice president for programming said in response to an e-mail inquiring whether the network had any interest in bringing the former Godfathers Pizza chief executive on as a contributor.
Mr. Shine noted that while there is nothing in the works, Mr. Cain will continue to appear on Fox as a guest.
No doubt. If nothing else this primary has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that Herman Cain is perfectly qualified for cable TV. In fact, one would be forgiven for assuming this primary was actually an extended audition for a permanent spot on Fox.
As Jeremy Peters at the NYT notes if it happens Cain would join a long line of GOP candidates turned cable news talkers including Sarah Palin, Karl Rove, former UN ambassador John Bolton, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum.
