Cute, but typical of a lot of "belt factory" schools. Kids like that are WAY too young to be involved in any sort of martial art, unless they are being taught meditation and exercises only. I'd bet in an another couple of years they'll each be sporting black belts, giving them an overly exagerated sense of skill and confidence. Then one day when they think they're big and tough, looking for trouble, somebody with much greater skill will pound them to a pulp. I'd say the minimum age for any sort of combat training is around 12 or 13. There needs to be both mental maturity and physical maturity to learn it properly, and it takes much self discipline to truly learn it well. Someone who starts at 13 could well reach black belt at 18, with much dedication and effort. And I mean a REAL black belt, not just a person who wears a belt of that color. A real black belt (in serious styles of martial arts at least) can handle multiple attackers and kill or disable them.

All kids must be given the black belt to provide an overly exaggerated sense of skill and confidence for diversity sake and perpetual mediocrity. I'd bet in an another couple of years they'll each be sporting black belts, giving them an overly exagerated sense of skill and confidence.

Once they get their black belts, I'd like to see anyone of them go up against any student taught by this guy...

Not to worry FormerLurker......the sense of discipline necessary to get to black belt is rarely fostered in the children. These boys will be done with this quest by third grade, leaving with the feeling of great accomplishment of having "tried" while fostering a sense of justification for giving up. : )

At least they're not in PeeWee football with their overbearing Dads screaming "Kill him, boy!!!" from the sidelines. Kids like that are WAY too young to be involved in any sort of martial art, unless they are being taught meditation and exercises only.
