I was trying to do a "control all" hit s instead of a and my screen font size went to near microscopic and I have two freedon 4um banner headers side by side.
What a drag - does anyone have an idea of how to correct this.
Nice to see you again Bill. Sorry Tom, don't have an answer.

This happened to me before and the size kept increasing/decreasing. So, I logged out and shut it down. When I came back, it was like nothing had ever happened. : )

different question, but do you know why some links that previously worked for me would all the sudden not work, and only work if i type in a www after the http:// ?
for example http://whatever.com/article.html no longer works but if I add www., http://www.whatever.com/article.html it works.
what would cause this?

Shrugs....you got me on that one.
I just skip the "http:// " and type www.whatever.com

believe it or not, i dont even know what that means. I know that OS stands for operating system,. I suppose i could find out what "OS & browser" I am using by clicking some jibberish on my computer? I just turn the damn thing on and use it. I am very non tech.
my question was about my website. the problem is, for example. all the pages stopped working 2 days ago, unless i manually add a "WWW." to the url. Before then, the urls have worked for years just fine, without a WWW.case in point:
right. that main page does still work using the domain name. however, all of the links, such as the ones i posted above, none of the originals work unless i manually add the www. i do not know why this is but it is drastically brought all traffic to a halt. even if you go to my main page and click on any of the links (as the one above,. none of them work. unless you add the www. it happened 2 days ago. i emailed my host about it, but i thought someone here could give insight until the time i can solve the prob.

do you know what could cause my problem as i described it in post #10? what would cause a urls that have worked for years to all the sudden stop working unless i add a WWW. to each of them?

It would be caused by a domain name setup issue for the domain you are visiting, without having anything to do with your browser or PC.
When you visit a domain name, something called a DNS server translates the name into an IP address, which your computer needs to find the web server that hosts the web site. The proper setup of that name is the responsibility of whomever owns the web site. Sometimes, people set up www.whatever.com to be translated into an IP address, but they neglect to do the same for whatever.com, and the result is what you found.
i am using a toshiba laptop. i know i should probably know what OS & browser i use, but since it doesnt matter to me and noone told me what i am using, i dont know. i just come online to read the news. :-)

Then apparently somebody made a screwy change to the DNS setup about 2 days ago. They should be informed of it so it can be fixed. I get the same results you describe so it's not you.
thanks. i thought it was something like that. But the urls above are mine, and when i create a new url, they do not even have www in them. they have worked fine for years, without a WWW, until yesterday,. so i suppose it is the company that hosts my pages needs to fix something then, right?

Operating System is usually either MS Windows or maybe Linux, or possibly a Mac. Browser is either Firefox or MS Internet Explorer. The program that shows you web pages.
if i could bother you with one more question. I have a domain name which i point the main domain to the outfit which i use to host all my pages.
Do you know how i would make all my individual pages have urls of http//libertyfight.com/whatever.html, instead of the way i currently have it, which is http://libertyfight.0catch.com/whatever.html ?
Would that be something to do with DNS also? I think it is simple to do, but i never knew how to do it.

It could be a DNS issue with your ISP. Usually temporary.

Funny the most provocative thing I have posted was a minor computer issue.
Ironically, that happens a lot. On a now defunct large forum once run by Time magasine I have made throwaway threads that caught the imagination for some unanticipated reason and went platinum into the 1000 post plus zone.
Do you know how i would make all my individual pages have urls of http//libertyfight.com/whatever.html, instead of the way i currently have it, which is http://libertyfight.0catch.com/whatever.html ?
I think I've seen that done, but I don't know how it works. I think it would have to work by having your libertyfight.com server, when whatever page is requested from it, would itself request the same page from 0catch.com, and then relay it to the visiting browser. If that's correct, then you would have to have your ISP for libertyfight setup to do that task, and you'd have to ask them if they can do it. They might, but they might not. You could search the net for the feature from another ISP for your LF domain if they can't do it.
I'd like to know how to have urls that begin with my domain name, instead of the site i use to host the pages. for example if i hosted at your place, instead of gaving each individual url look like http://libertyfight.solvosermo.com/whatever.html , how would i make them to be http://libertyfight.com/todays_article.html ?
(I am not referring to my main page, but rather individual new urls of subpages, which are created on a regular basis).

From what I can see, you should be able to do that now.

critter pointed out that my existing domain forwarding & masking already automatically works on all the sub-pages, not just the main page. I had never even tried that! ;-$
