A government watchdog group has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission against Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich following a report that his campaign paid Gingrich $42,000 for the use of his personal mailing list without disclosing it in their campaign finance filings. They also asked the FEC to investigation whether Gingrich Productions, Inc. held campaign events in conjunction with his book signings.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington said in a complaint that they believe that Gingrich Productions Inc. violated the law “by using corporate funds to pay for a portion of the expenses of dual purpse events promoting the candidacy of Newt Gingrich while also promoting the sale of books by Newt Gingrich and by collecting the email addresses of people attending the dual purpose events for the purpose of soliciting contributions.”

Gingrich, CREW Executive Director Melanie Sloan said in a statement, “will do anything to make a buck, even sell his own mailing list to his campaign. He has a long history of playing fast and loose with ethics rules so it should surprise no one to learn he is at it again.”

Late update: Gingrich spokesman R.C. Hammond responds: “If the FEC considers the complaint, they will find that the rules are being followed and published regulations are being enforced.” Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), Campaign Donations, Campaign Finance, FEC, Federal Election Commission, Newt Gingrich

CREW said Gingrich "will do anything to make a buck, even sell his own mailing list to his campaign. He has a long history of playing fast and loose with ethics rules so it should surprise no one to learn he is at it again.”

Don't stop at Gingrich. There are currently 535 members of Congress who ALL have a history of playing fast and loose with ethic rules and taxpayers' money. Keep yourselves busy until you have rid D.C. of every last one of them.

True, but fact it; Newt is a cheater to an extraordinary degree.

He is a fun fly to pull the wings off of.

Newt is a cheater to an extraordinary degree.

I agree with that statement, Ferret. I just hope you pull the wings off of him to the point he is defeated in his attempt at gaining the Republican nomination.

How much more abuse will the average neocon voter take from Newt until they walk out on his freak show masquerading as a serious campaign??

Damn, you work fast, Ferret. Check this out:

PRINCETON, NJ -- After enjoying 14- to 15-percentage-point leads over Mitt Romney in early December, Newt Gingrich is now statistically tied with Romney in national Republican preferences for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination: 26% for Gingrich vs. 24% for Romney. This follows a steady decline in support for Gingrich in the past 10 days.

(This reported by Gallup!!!)

This pig is glib, knows history and can talk a lot of 'been there done that' about the machinations that go on under Lincoln's Dome.

But he's an asshole, and whatever temporary infatuation there may be among the Milk of Magnesia crowd, voters will see him for what he is. He can't keep it zipped, and there is no trough big enough for his snout.

This penny-pinching profiteering is the hallmark of a Jew in the woodpile, somewhere in Newt's ancestry. My apologies to Jews.

It is vital to understand that there is no truth without discernment and no wisdom without the truth. What then is “faith” but an effort to confound truth and wisdom?
