In the 12th chapter of Revelation we are given a prophecy concerning America in the last days, a prophecy concerning a remnant of believers making one last stand for Christianity and Freedom. Beloved you were born here for a rea
Having been outside the country for as long as I have, I've come to the conclusion that the belief that the US is somehow "the last stand" for freedom in the world is pretty much based on arrogance and ignorance. If Reagan really said that, and I wouldn't doubt it, then it was just a sound bite to tell his audience something they already wanted to hear.
There is no perfect place in the world for freedom, or at least both freedom and prosperity (you can get in your own rowboat in the middle of the Pacific and pretty much do *anything* you want unmolested, but what good is that?) Each country has it's own advantages and disadvantages. Comparing them is like comparing apples and oranges. In terms of expatriation, the US is one of only 3 countries in the world that seeks to tax it's citizens while living outside the country. So on that score the USA is among the very least free of countries on the entire planet.
The earth is a chunk of rock, dirt, water and air floating through space, and each of us can make do the best we can somewhere on it. There is nothing holy or sacred about one place over another, save that with is personally ascribed by each inhabitant. But there's nothing wrong with that either. It's okay to have favorites, so long as it's understood that that's all it is.
