One image I'll never get out of my head is the pair of ten-point buck skulls I saw in the park museum when I went hiking up on Isle Royale, Michigan. The were sitting next to a specimen of a 20-pound pure copper nugget sawn in half for display. They apparently died that way with their horns locked in eternal combat. Nature is fierce and unforgiving.
