Ron Paul sits unchallenged in 2nd place in NH poll

The State Column | Staff | Tuesday, January 03, 2012

Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX), a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, sits unchallenged in 2nd place in the latest New Hampshire poll. A 7 News/Suffolk University poll of likely New Hampshire Republican presidential candidates found Mr. Paul in 2nd place with 16 percent of the votes.

With the Iowa Caucuses slated to take place Tuesday night, political pundits and concerned Americans are focused on the Granite State. However, shortly after the Iowa Caucuses, the New Hampshire Primary takes center stage.

While Mr. Romney is likely to win the New Hampshire Primary, Mr. Paul could make a significant statement about his candidacy if he finishes in 2nd place. Mr. Paul is likely to secure a top-tier finish in the Iowa Caucuses Tuesday night, which could boost his candidacy as the focus turns to the New Hampshire Primary.

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, who is a favorite to win the New Hampshire Primary, garnered 43 percent of the votes in the 7 News/Suffolk University poll. However, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who once was gaining on Mr. Romney in the Granite State, pulled in 9 percent of the votes. In fact, former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman defeated Mr. Gingrich by 1 percentage point.

BusinessWeek’s Joshua Green recently joined the growing number of political commentators who have posited that a Ron Paul victory in the Hawkeye State would discredit the Iowa Caucuses.

“A Paul victory in Iowa would be seen a merely delaying, rather than denying, Romney’s eventual coronation,” Mr. Green wrote in December.

The 7 News/Suffolk University poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.

So what is this guy admitting, that we have a monarchy where a king is chosen by royal degree rather than a constitutional republic where a president is chosen by general election?

Freudian slip perhaps?

History Crash Course #30 The Romans:

This is the point in time where we left off the story back in the land of Israel.

The last two Hasmonean rulers (from the line of the Maccabees) were two brothers: Hyrcanus and Aristobolus. Quarreling with each other as to who should be king, they hit on the idea of asking Rome to mediate in their dispute. And thus, in 63 BCE, Pompeii was invited to move his armies into Israel.

Compare that ancient history to the Democrat and Republican parties acting as if they are both ruling here as two kings, with our office of the Presidency being used as if it's ruled by an Emperor who postures as a "mediator" between them to "compromise" the Constitution into oblivion and to act on the behest of wannabe policy spinners as an "interventionist" militarily in foreign affairs.
