Many in the GOP realize that Ron Paul is not going to fade away once the early primaries are over. If Ron Paul doesn't win the primary battle, they'll need his voters to win in the general election.

Ron Paul did pretty well in the New Hampshire primary Tuesday. He placed second, slightly outperforming pre-election polls, and – perhaps more importantly – he tripled the number of votes he got in the Granite State when he ran for president in 2008. More and more, many in the GOP are realizing that this time around Ron Paul is a significant phenomenon that’s not going to fade away once the early primaries are over

Who will need his voters?

I am confused on this. If Ron Paul isn't the nominee, they will have puppet 1 or puppet 2 to chose from. Barry Soetoro or Romney/huntsman/Santorum (all puppets). What difference would it make if the puppet with an R in front of his name wins or the puppet with a D in front of his name wins..

I have to admit, I'm lost on the italicized sentence.

Clearly, the author is still under the fake right/left choice syndrome.

Interesting article. I do disagree that Ron Paul would only get 21% as a third party candidate. I think he could win. That said the GOP better be nice to him cause if he splits, they have ZERO chance of winning.

And while they'll try to blame him for Obama's victory, the truth is that they served up another crappy candidate in the form of Mittens and the people have had enough of these RINO frauds masquerading as conservatives.

Back in 2008, when Paul didn't get the Repub nomination he then ran on the Libertarian ticket and a good many of his Republican supporters voted for him instead of McCain. This time around, if he again runs on a third party against the regular Republican nominee, his supporters - since he was the second biggest vote-getter - will probably siphon off enough votes from the Republican to throw the election to Obama.

The difficulty is that most Paul supporters won't vote for another Republican, especially if Ron Paul runs on a third party, and most other Republican voters won't vote for Ron Paul. This is such a sharp divide that the GOP's best hope is that Ron Paul does not opt for a third party run.

What in the world are you talking about? Dr. Paul did NOT run on the Libertarian ticket after losing the Republicrat nomination in 2008. The Libertarian candidate was Bob Barr.

I cannot tell you the satisfaction I will get when I go into the voting booth and vote 3rd party (if Paul doesn't win the nomination). I cannot appropriately express the joy I will feel in knowing that millions of other Ron Paul voters will be doing the same thing. I will laugh out loud as the leftist Republicans on LP, FR and Hannity and everywhere else wail and gnash their teeth in their impotence.

For months now the yukons, Gatlins, out damned spots, Grand Islands, Goldi-loxes, Mad Dogs, etc., have been insulting us, telling us how unimportant we are and how our views are unimportant and do not matter.

We'll just fucking see just how much we don't matter.

BS! Ron didn't run on the Libertarian ticket in 2008. He did in 1988 (I voted for him). And it is very doubtful that any true Ron Paul supporter voted for McCain--the establishment always gives the sheeple a choice between Tweedledumb and Tweedledumber and those of us who support Ron are on to their scam, some of us have been for a long time.

Not necessarily. He might also siphon off enough votes from the Democrats who are disenchanted with Obama, to win the election.

If Ron doesn't win the nomination the sheeple will have the grand choice of a white puppet (aka Tweedledumb) or a mulatto puppet (aka Tweedledumber). What a deal, eh?
