Why would synthetic marijuana be OK, and not the real thing? Do politicians even think before they speak? God is always good!
It is easier for a sock puppet to parrot the words of his master(s), than to speak from one's conscience. When you look at the fact synthetic marijuana is a patented drug, and pushed by the pharmacutecal industry for a handsome profit, whereas the natural stuff is not patentable, do you see a trend here with medicine in general in the US? Natural non-patented drugs (ie. no big profits for mega corps) are quickly becoming illegal if they are not already illegal, so that big shots who run the pharma mega corps can afford new jets, more bribes, and more of whatever they wish to experience. Yep. Not only would it cut into paper (from wood), plastics and other synthetic fibers and polymers (from oil), but into actual motor oil and fuel consumption, since hemp oil can be used both as a lubricant and a fuel. Clothing and ropes made from hemp are also far superiour than oil based twisted synthetic fibers, and less likely to cause skin allergies, and cheap to produce. Positive reasoning and reflection from smoking it would also, as you suggest, cause young men and women to reevaluate their stances on war, killing, life, and death if they were to reflect a bit deeper on what those things truly are. It's one thing to die defending your loved ones when a threat is real, but another thing entirely to kill for corporate greed and profit. I wonder if most folks know that BIG PHARMA just removed hundreds of common, ordinary generics from the market in order to force patients' insurance (if they have coverage) to pay more for prescriptions? Some of the drugs removed were things like ordinary quinine. Our health and lifestyle choices are determined by the sense of well being of pharmaceutical stockholders.
