Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX), a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, won the Saddle Up Texas Straw Poll Saturday. Mr. Paul dominated both the in person and text portions of the Saddle Up Texas Straw Poll. Mr. Paul’s victory follows top-tier finishes in a Rasmussen Reports poll and Public Policy Polling poll of likely South Carolina Republican primary voters Friday.
Mr. Paul garnered 54.4 percent of the votes in the text portion of the Saddle Up Texas Straw Poll. Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum pulled 15.6 percent of the votes to earn a second place finish. Governor Rick Perry (R-TX) earned 13.3 percent of the votes to grab a third place finish.
Mr. Paul pulled in 27.9 percent of the votes in the in person portion of the Saddle Up Texas Straw Poll. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich earned 23.8 percent of the votes to grab a second place finish, while Mr. Santorum garnered 21.2 percent of the votes to earn a third place finish.
Mr. Paul’s victory in the Saddle Up Texas Straw Poll also follows a third place finish in the Iowa Caucuses and a second place finish in the New Hampshire Primary. Mr. Paul’s top-tier finishes in the first two early voting states is likely to give his campaign a boost as the Texas congressman tries to earn his third top-tier finish in a row next Saturday.
The Saddle Up Texas Straw Poll is an effort to increase Texas’ influence in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. The Texas Republican primary is scheduled for April 3rd.
“Despite Texas’ apparent political clout as holder of the second largest delegation to the Electoral College and the second largest population in the United States, its position in the primary election, which is governed by political parties, is significantly and detrimentally out of balance to its general election influence,” the website for the Saddle Up Texas Straw Poll reads.
The Saddle Up Texas Straw Poll started on Thursday, January 12th and ended on Saturday, January 14th. In person voting at the Saddle Up Texas Straw Poll was held in Houston, Texas in Minute Maid Park. The event included speakers a social mixer and a VIP Reception. Several Tea Party groups organized the straw poll.

Lookit how the Paranoid Party treats paying delegates who are requesting their credentials to a party sponsored event.
These bastards want the votes of conservatives in the fall. I'll tell them this: Maybe the people of this land have not learned lessons or drawn the proper conclusions after four years of 'Bammer. Perhaps four more will be needed to drive the import home.
If all they got is more of the same phony globalist hacks and compulsive campaigners masquerading as conservatives and expect us to lay down for this crap again, they can whistle for it. I'm staying home.

If there's no acceptable option at the top of the ticket, I can envision myself not casting a vote in that race. But there will likely be other contests where a viable candidate will be in the running.
I'm still willing to vote for those on the undercard with whom I do share values.

As well there are likely to be measures and candidates that you want to vote against. Even with being largely symbolic given the level of corruption in elections.

all indicators show the fix is in for moromney RNCFR ticket. I'll sit the Selection out and give them low poll numbers rather than give them a ballot they can manipulate to their ends. computer counted ballots are ballots counted in secret which is a violation of most state's constitution.

Did you guys see that Ron Paul received a heavy duty endorsement today?
In only his first term, Senator Tom Davis has become a respected Tea Party leader and the most outspoken advocate for limited government, fiscal responsibility, and conservative principles in the South Carolina state legislature.
At a rally that just wrapped a little while ago in Myrtle Beach, SC, Senator Davis announced he is endorsing me for the Republican nomination!
Senator Davis has been one of the most sought-after endorsements in this South Carolina primary race.
Matter of fact, one of my establishment opponents, Rick Santorum, recently told The Hilton Head Island Packet that, To get an endorsement from someone like Tom Davis is a big deal. It would speak volumes to folks and make them take notice and give us a look.
After closely evaluating the records of each candidate, Senator Davis has decided to support my campaign because he knows Im the only candidate serious about reining in spending, shrinking government, and returning prosperity to America and that Ive got the consistent conservative history to back up my word.
Im proud to have the support of such a well-respected leader, and I look forward to working with Tom Davis and other principled legislators to return our country to its core beliefs of limited government, individual freedom, sound money, and personal responsibility.
And I hope Ill have your support as our campaign undertakes one final push in South Carolina this week.
You see, like Senator Davis, voters all across South Carolina are joining my campaign once they hear about my record and discover my plans to reinstall a love for freedom in the White House.
Senator Davis endorsement already has people talking and taking another look at my campaign.

Thank you for the ping!! Ron Paul is still the only GOP candidate worth considering.
With the exception of Whites, the rule among the peoples of the world, whether residing in their homelands or settled in Western democracies, is ethnocentrism and moral particularism: they stick together and good means what is good for their ethnic group." -Alex Kurtagic
The senator's endorsement was really great. I posted it on a thread about this endorsement if you would like to read it. He said Dr. Paul is the only candidate who can beat Obama despite the pundits telling people otherwise. : )
