The Communications Director for Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) tweeted this morning that her boss has been detained by the Transportation Security Administration. “Just got a call from @senrandpaul. He’s currently being detained by TSA in Nashville,” the tweet reads.

Update, 10:26:

Paul’s father, Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) tweets the following: “My son @SenRandPaul being detained by TSA for refusing full body pat-down after anomaly in body scanner in Nashville. More details coming.”

More info - there was an "anomaly" in Rand's initial body scan, so my son requested to be scanned a second time. TSA demanded a full body pat down and Rand refused.

This is crazy, I guess suspicions of being a U.S. Senator with Libertarian leanings is one of the things the TSA profiles for.

I'm thinking that may be why he made the stand. He gave them the choice of making a special VIP exception or making fools of themselves. Since we already knew TSA is staffed by fools, intentionally I believe, they obliged him by demonstrating it.
