On tonight's Special Report, political contributor Charles Krauthammer gave his take on presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich's future as a candidate. This follows contradictory statements made by Gingrich on the individual health care mandate, as well as a vocal lack of support for Republican Paul Ryan's (R-WI) alternative plan.
Krauthammer told Bret Baier that Gingrich "didn't have a big chance from the beginning, but now it's over."
More recent reporting by Jon Stewart on Newt Gingrich and Reagan's Eleventh Commandment:
Article 1 with video; go to the 7:29 mark.
Media news derivatives: Jan. 24: Good riff at the end of the clip, when Stewart runs video of Gingrich talking about his fealty to Ronald Reagans 11th Commandment, which outlaws attacking a fellow Republican. Stewart jokes, I guess once Gingrich started breaking the actual commandments, the party just thought, No sense keeping the made-up ones either.
That Reagan Commandment commentary can also be viewed at this Article 2 site; same timemark of 7:29.
Newt Gingrich never was. He is being propped up to justify stealing votes from Ron Paul and to diminish Ron Paul to the point that he does not get high billing in the controlled media.
He has served his purpose and is now being disposed of.
Gingrich is very heavily financed by just one Zillionaire. If he collected money from mere Billionaires he could probably keep campaigning into 2116. So I seriously doubt that he will fade from the campaign. He seems determined to make it impossible for Romney to win the Election even if he wins the Nomination. I have no idea why Gingrich is so begrudging but he's been out of political office for nearly a dozen years and maybe being a taken seriously as a potential President or at least a king-maker will juice up his lobbying business.
