Are the Maine GOP caucus results in doubt?

http://content.usatoday.com/communities/onpolitics/post/2012/02/ron-paul-maine-caucuses-washington-county-romney-/1#.Tzxa6dTARQe

By Catalina Camia, USA TODAY

What is it with GOP presidential caucuses and the counting of those results?

The Bangor Daily News in Maine reports "pressure is on" the state Republican Party to "reconsider its weekend declaration that Mitt Romney won" the Maine caucuses. Romney edged out Ron Paul by 194 votes.

Several Maine towns were not included in the vote totals released Saturday, Feb. 11, because they did not hold their caucuses by that date. The newspaper's town-by-town review found that some communities voting before Feb. 11 -- such as Waterville and those in Waldo County -- weren't included in vote totals.

There were issues with the vote count in Iowa and Nevada, which each held caucuses instead of primaries.

Washington County, the easternmost county in the United States, is going to hold caucuses this Saturday, Feb. 18. The GOP chairman there says he's going to petition the state Republican Party to include those votes, and he's expecting a big turnout.

"We're going to release the numbers to the media, the campaigns and the party," Chris Gardner, the Washington County (Maine) GOP chairman told USA TODAY. "The media and the campaigns don't need the state party to do the math."

Paul's campaign has been saying since Saturday that the Texas congressman could end up winning more delegates than Romney when all is said and done. The caucuses were only the first step in the process, and convention delegates weren't awarded last weekend when the straw poll results were announced.

The Paul campaign issued a statement expressing the "outrage" about the vote delay in Washington County, which was caused by a snowstorm.

Gardner said in our interview that he had no indication from the state Republican Party that Washington County wouldn't be part of the official vote if towns decided to hold off on caucuses because of the weather. And for the record, he is a Mitt Romney supporter.

"The state party was well-intentioned with what they were trying to do," Gardner told USA TODAY. "They're a little caught up in the pomp and circumstance and need to pay attention to ... an inclusive process."

Gardner says including all Maine communities -- regardless of when caucus votes were held or will be held -- in the final GOP presidential tally is only the right thing to do.

"Other people are trying to make this about the candidates," he said. "Here in Washington County, it's about the process."

Questions swirl around Maine's GOP caucus counts

AUGUSTA -- Republicans are pressuring their party's leaders for a recount of Mitt Romney's narrow victory over Ron Paul in Maine's closely watched Republican caucuses.

And some say it may be time to get rid of Maine's quirky process for selecting presidential candidates and switch to conventional primary elections, with voting booths and counting machines.

......

But the attention has since focused on counting errors, underreporting of towns and a decision not to count voting that was postponed by snow in Washington County.

The party's state chairman said he is confident that a recount would not change the results. However, the problems are reinforcing suspicions about the caucus system that existed long before this year's voting was complete.

At Westbrook's caucus on Feb. 5, for example, Ron Paul's supporters made a motion to require the chairwoman of the meeting to hold on to the ballots so they could inspect them later and verify the count.

A group of Romney supporters made a similar motion at a different caucus, said Charlie Webster, chairman of the Maine Republican Party.

in Washington County who decided to postpone Saturday's caucus there because of a snowstorm. The caucus will be held this Saturday.

A typical turnout in Washington County -- about 110 to 120 voters -- would not be enough to change the official outcome. Romney had 194 more votes than Paul, according to the official count.

But things changed when the county was left out of the official results, said Senate President Kevin Raye, a Republican from the Washington County town of Perry.

"Everybody that I've talked to in Washington County is frustrated that our votes can't count," Raye said. "I predict that this turnout will be greater."

Raye said he personally urged Webster to recalculate the votes after this weekend's Washington County caucus. Even if the party doesn't add the numbers up, everybody else will, Raye said.

However, only state party officials now know the correct numbers to add up.

Some towns didn't report their numbers in time to be counted Saturday, while others did report but were not included because of clerical or computer problems in the rush to calculate the winner, Webster said.

Waterville's caucus results, for example, were reported but not counted in the state's total. Paul beat Romney 21-5 in Waterville, according to numbers provided Tuesday by the Kennebec County Republican Committee.

There also were a few cases of incorrect numbers being entered into the official breakdown, Webster said.

"I wish it was 100 percent trouble-free but we don't have the staff or the money," he said.

Webster would not release corrected totals on Tuesday. He said he does not want to issue new numbers until the state committee meets to discuss the issue March 10.

"My position is, it doesn't matter," Webster said. "(The outcome) didn't change at all."

The caucus vote is a non-binding preference poll, he noted, and the Maine delegates who are elected to go to the national convention will ultimately decide whom to support.

Paul Madore, state chairman of the Ron Paul campaign, said the refusal to change the vote count shows the bias in Maine's Republican Party against conservatives, and could further disenfranchise them.

IT is not Bias that disenfranchises us. It is election fraud.

Fuck them it will not stand must not stand can not stand DIDN'T STAND!

Ron Paul isn't going to ask for Maine recount

I think Ron Paul is playing an astute game. He knows that the establishment/Israel First Zionists will not allow him to win. It is becoming increasingly obvious to many many more people that the elections are rigged and being stolen. What is occurring in Maine now is that the voters, and Ron Paul supporters, are up in arms and even if the rigged result is not overturned the odor will linger and it now becomes progressively difficult to rig election results.

If Ron Paul demanded a recount he would be pilloried by the Presstitutes as a "sore loser" and they would spin it as a second tier candidate eating sour grapes. This way if is overturned he is in the clear and the Presstitutes are stuck as they are presented with a result they do not want to report but they can't spin it as Ron Paul's sour grapes to win an inconsequential state.

Very astute.

The other benefit is that Ron Paul is working toward the long term in unseating the criminal combine that has taken over our government and so while I am sure he wants to do well that is secondary to the mission.

I don't know how Zionists got into this mix. Maine does not have many Jews.

But the simple fact is that the Maine GOP has declared a winner with a margin of only 194 votes - while at least 3 counties haven't been counted at all. Anyone, regardless of his political leanings, can see that such a small margin is meaningless with 3 counties still uncounted. The refusal of the Maine GOP to budge on this suggests some serious chicanery - but I would think that even the apparent winner and his fans would want the victory to be free of suspicions.

Checkbook politics pure and simple.

The Zionists do not like Ron Paul because he is not under their thumb and is opposed to foreign interventions and foreign aid.

Even worse he would likely enforce the Symington Amendment which would cut off all foreign aid, and weaponry, to Shittylittlestan.

The problem with Zionists is that they are like a virulent infection - you never know where they'll turn up next. Of course, as we both know, Zionism is a symptom and not the disease, as Zionism and Israel are both controlled from the City of London Banking District primarily by the Rothschild Crime Family.

Maine GOP recounting caucus votes - Tim Mak - POLITICO.com

The Maine Republican Party, under fire from Ron Paul supporters for its mishandling of the state’s recent caucuses, is now re-canvassing counties and municipalities to recount vote totals.

Even if it comes out with RP ahead they'll just jettison a few sacrificial bodies and paper everything over. The Lamestream Presstitutes will mention it only in passing while still avoiding any mention of Ron Paul. I was listening to a radios news report the day before yesterday and it was quite amusing, and obvious, that they were avoiding mentioning Ron Paul - the report was just "Romney won" and no mention of anyone else. The way it clipped off made the artifice obvious.
