Complete Trust in God
From A Catholic Prayer Book

Saint Francis de Sales (1567-1622)
Do not look forward to the changes and chances of this life with fear. Rather, look to them with full confidence that, as they arise, God to whom you belong will in his love enable you to profit by them. He has guided you thus far in life. Do you but hold fast to His dear hand, and He will lead you safely through all trials. Whenever you cannot stand, He will carry you lovingly in his arms.

Do not look forward to what may happen tomorrow. The same Eternal Father who takes care of you today will take care of you tomorrow, and every day of your life. Either He will shield you from suffering or He will give you unfailing strength to bear it.

Be at peace then, and put aside all useless thoughts, all vain dreads and all anxious imaginations.

good one! wasn't aware of that one! it's along the lines of the following:

Psalm 118:8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.

9It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.

and this:

Psalm 2:12Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him. kingjbible.com/psalms/2.htm

"...as long as there..remain active enemies of the Christian church, we may hope to become Master of the World...the future Jewish King will never reign in the world before Christianity is overthrown - B'nai B'rith speech http://www.biblebelievers.org.au/luther.htm / http://bible.cc/psalms/83-4.htm

The relationship between morality and liberty is a directly proportional one.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”

This apathetic prayer asks one to sit idly by while the CHURCH that promoted it maimed, murdered, and mauled Europe.

I totally TRUST God, but loathe the "CHURCH."

"The people have always some champion whom they set over them and nurse into greatness. This and no other is the root from which a tyrant springs; when he first appears he is a protector "

Plato.

wise friend told me once, "tis ok to trust God, but tie up your camel" ~ and yea to the GPS comment *VBS*

This is something I just posted last night from my days of pondering this concept of a nice God that gives a damn about us.

Father and Son

...my son started riding his bike alone this past week. I've spent the summer, running down the street beside him, holding his arm while he figured things out, no training wheels, the rocking back and forth scared him.

Every now and then I would loosen my grip a bit, knowing that he has been ready to go for awhile already, but he would notice and ask me to hold on tighter.

We practiced coasting down a little hill and then puffing back up it. We tested out the brakes, learned to look where we wanted to go, not at our feet, and learned to watch for a cushy spot of grass to fall into, should there be no way to avoid a crash.

Then Monday night, after I left for work, he pulled out his bike and started cruising up and down the driveway, all alone, to the giggles of everyone who watched us this summer.

...it's been 3 days now with him getting a bit more daring each morning, face beaming, grinnin with dimples deeper than I've ever seen ... makes me wonder for a moment, what must he be thinking right now?

Can he remember the day he finally trusted his father to take his arm and hold him up? That took some convincing!

Did he ever really believe the day would come when he would be flying down the road under his own power?

He doesn't have to stop and thank me every time anymore, I can see the gratitude in his little face. He doesn't have to ask, "Which way should I turn now dad?", just goes down the road knowing that I'm watching and will yell if danger comes near.

I read a book long ago that suggested we only need to look at ourselves, what we truly wish to be for our children & others, if we want a glimpse of what God wishes for all of us.

Could it be that simple? All I wanted to do for this little guy was show him how to have fun, avoid danger and then let him go, see what he would do, where he would go.

and to think, riding a bike is something we never forget.
