War, War, War See other War, War, War Articles Title: Tucker Carlson & the sick mentality of US imperialists Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson recently expressed his thoughts on television that Iran ‘deserves to be annihilated’ because ‘they are lunatics’ and ‘evil.’ Presumably ‘they’ are the 76 million people of the very diverse and ancient civilisation that Mr Carlson wants to see annihilated. In addition to his vicious attitude towards the people of Iran, Mr Carlson expressed a very strange understanding of the world. He justified attacking Iran by saying, ‘I think we are the only country with the moral authority sufficient to do that – the only country that doesn’t seek hegemony in the world.’ His only expressed concerns about attacking Iran was the ‘small factor,’ as he put it, of energy prices which ‘could tank our economy.’ The millions of people who would be killed apparently give Mr Carlson no pause because they are ‘evil’ but spiking energy prices are a ‘small factor.’ From where does this alleged ‘moral authority’ to make ‘preemptive strikes’ (which the US and allied regimes ruled at the Nuremberg Trials constitute a war crime) come? The US invasion of Iraq has led to a civil war in the country, hundreds of thousands of people being killed and the very old Christian community there which was protected under the former secular government being all but eradicated. The US bombing of Libya created a power vacuum with roving bands of militants attacking people throughout the country and nearby communities warring against each other. US support for radicals and foreign fighters in Syria has de-stabilised that country and led to the deaths of thousands. In Bahrain the US props up a murderous dictatorship which uses torture, mass arrests and brutal crack-downs to hold onto power. The US also helps to prop up the brutal Saudi dictatorship which allows no public dissent and recently helped the Bahrain dictatorship crack down on public protesters. The US also regularly attacks remote villages in Pakistan, killing large numbers of civilians along with those it labels ‘militants.’ One could go on and on pointing out the aggressive, immoral behaviour of the United States. There is certainly no moral authority here. What about the assertion that the United States is the only country that doesn’t seek hegemony in the world’? This claim is almost comical. No other country spends anywhere near as much as on its military. No other country invades as many countries as does the United States. No other country has anywhere close to as many foreign military bases around the planet. No government goes around the planet lecturing other regimes on human rights then tortures suspects at home, indiscriminately bombs foreign villages, invades and occupies foreign lands and all the while claims to be a shining city on a hill.
