"I descended to [the left's] level when I used those two words to describe Sandra Fluke," Limbaugh said. "I've always tried to maintain a very high degree of integrity and independence on this program. Nevertheless, those two words were inappropriate. They were uncalled for. They distracted from the point that I was actually trying to make, and I again sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for using those two words to describe her. I do not think she is either of those two words. I did not think last week that she is either of those two words." He added: "It was way beneath me, and way beneath you. I was wrong. I genuinely apologize." Limbaugh claimed he was not forced into issuing an apology to Fluke, despite calls from prominent conservatives—including House Speaker John Boehner and GOP candidates Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum—to do so, as advertisers of his show fled in droves. "The apology was sincere and heartfelt ... pure, simple, heartfelt," he said. "All the theories, all the experts are wrong." Limbaugh's comments came a day after a seventh advertiser, ProFlowers.com, pulled its advertising from his radio show, following Quicken Loans, Sleep Train, Sleep Number, Citrix Systems Inc., Carbonite and LegalZoom. An eighth, AOL, announced on Monday that it would stop advertising, too. "At AOL one of our core values is that we act with integrity," Maureen Sullivan, an AOL spokeswoman, said in an emailed statement. "We have monitored the unfolding events and have determined that Mr. Limbaugh's comments are not in line with our values." "I reject millions of dollars of advertising a year, much to the chagrin of my ad sales team," Limbaugh said, "including General Motors. I made the decision [after the government bailout] not to accept [GM advertising] because you, the audience, comes first." "We're going to replace those that leave," he said. "Fine, we'll replace [you]." On Saturday, Limbaugh posted an apology to Fluke on his website. "For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke," the statement read. "My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices." Earlier Monday, fellow radio talk show host Don Imus dismissed Limbaugh's apology to Fluke as "lame," and suggested he sit down with her. "He's a fat, gutless loser," Imus said, "and if I'm running a radio station, he's not on it ... until he does that." But in an appearance on "The View," Fluke said Limbaugh's initial comments were "personal enough, so I'd rather not have a personal phone call with him." The National Organization of Women still wants to see him fired. "When one of the leading commentators for the conservative Republican Party is out there using this vicious language against an ordinary young woman who simply wanted to testify before Congress—that goes so far beyond the pale," NOW president Terry O'Neil said in an interview on CNN. "I'm not going to wait for apologies from the left," Limbaugh said, "for saying despicable things they say about us, about people like Sarah Palin. Don't expect apologies, they're never going to apologize." "Talk about a double standard," Limbaugh intoned, after several callers complained that it was unfair he was forced into an apology. And Imus is a skinny scrotum faced hypocrite who got fired from his nationally syndicated program "Imus in The Morning" for much the same kind of faux paux. Not that I would care to defend the fat gutless loser either. In the past Bill Maher said Elisabeth Hasselbeck should be gang raped in Egypt and he called Palin a dumb twat and a cunt. No apology. David Letterman joked about Palin's 14 yr old daughter being raped. A week later he made the weakest apology I've ever heard. MSNBC's Ed Schultz called Laura Ingraham a slut. No apology. Obama Campaign staffers wore t-shirts that read, "Palin is a Cunt". I never heard Obama apologize. Al Sharpton tried to railroad several innocent white guys into jail based on a false accusation by Tawana Brawley. He has adamantly refused to apologize. E. Michael Jones pointed out long ago the main concern of Liberalism shifted from pitying the poor to sexual license. Sandra Fluke is a stupid liberal whore who will come back to haunt all of us when she comes up for appointment to the Supreme Court a couple of decades down the road. The Catholic Church represents a moral authority in conflict with modern liberalism, and they can't stand that. It has to conform to their will or be destroyed. They can't do it all at once so they try chipping away at it with issues like the birth control mandate. "It's not only Obama who, as we now learn, reportedly used that term (teabagger), but numerous "respectable" news media personages, including Anderson Cooper. When they did that, there should have been an earthshaking uproar by conservatives that didn't stop until these august members of the media abjectly apologized and undertook never to use the term again. But that didn't happen. Having surrendered on that issue, it's a little late now for conservatives to be bringing it up. This is not a matter of abstract justice. This is a matter of making a fuss. Liberals made a huge fuss about Limbaugh, and got him to apologize. Conservatives did not make a huge fuss about "teabaggers," and got no one to apologize. I repeat that there is a need for a group of conservative organizations that will do, on a variety of issues, what NumbersUSA does with immigration: generate tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of phone calls to the relevant institutions. That's what makes a difference."

When the Republicans had complete control of the federal government and used that control to out-Democrat the Democrats by growing the size of government more than any group of people since the LBJ administration, you spent your 3 hours a day pretending that the Democrats still had control. Instead of focusing upon Republican betrayal and using your bully pulpit to help force them to live up to their party platform and 40+ years of small government rhetoric, you purposely kept the focus off of them and directed your audiences attention to the meaningless bullshit the Democrats were doing - meaningless bullshit that had no way of passing and had no administration support. You could have made a huge difference in this country during the Bush years Rush. If you had given Bush and the Republicans the same scrutiny you did to Clinton and the Democrats; if you would have held them to the same standard, you theoretically could have inflamed your listeners enough to put a stop to much of the spending and big government legislation passed by your party.
