Hot on the heels of its Panda Labs defacements, Anonymous has taken down the Vatican's own website in a protest against what it described was a "corrupt" church organisation.

"Anonymous decided today to besiege your site in response to the doctrine, to the liturgies, to the absurd and anachronistic concepts that your for-profit organisation spreads around the world," read a statement posted on an Italian anon website.

"This attack is not against the Christian religion or the faithful around the world but against the corrupt Roman Apostolic Church."

This is the second high profile attack the group has made since the announcement of the Lulzsec leader snitching on several other members of the anti-sec movement yesterday. Earlier today it was announced that Anti-Virus makers Panda Labs had been hit, with over 30 of its sub-domains being defaced with a message that decried the company's actions, as well as laughing at the irony of a security firm being hacked quite so thoroughly.

Apparently Panda Labs was heavily involved with monitoring IRC chat rooms and Anonymous hang outs in order to help inform the FBI and other government organisations on potential future targets of the hacktivist movement.

On top of revenge actions, much in the way of supportive messages and thoughts have been flooding in for those few hackers that were arrested in recent days, with many petitioning and calling for their release. Some claim that those charged are not even hackers, but political prisoners.

Catholics aren't taught to be hateful and spiteful against Non-Catholics.

Perhaps that is why they murdered all those people? They did it out of love?

They had well over 1000 years to get it right. They failed. Granted, they aren't burning people alive anymore, or massacring entire towns. They leave that to their loving 'god'. They just sodomize little kids and cover it up, and no one bats an eye about what their leaders have done. I suppose that is progress, of a sort. At least they don't murder those kids.

Oh, knock it off. As if Catholics didn't suffer all of that and massive property theft too at the hands of imperfect Protestants and others. No doubt there's been evil infiltrations of the Catholic clergy as there've been in other religions and occupations. So now you are ok with Conspiracy Theories as long as it's a Catholic Conspiracy being alleged? Do you really think the Catholic Church has the power to prevent suspects from being apprehended by Law Enforcement? Do you believe every accusation is true?; that cleric abusers would have any reason to expect they wouldn't be outed immediately by anyone they victimized?; that every attempt to remove Priests from the intrigues of false-accusers scheming to bankrupt parishes and fracture faith must be evidence of a cover-up?; that it's not at all peculiar how "wealthy", Superpower America has been the relentless target of Catholic persecution and degradation?; that the cases of abuse that are true wipes out all that Catholics have strived to do for betterment of this world and the alleviation of suffering?; that the same sort of undermining of the Church's powers as in Luther's time (which fragmented and scattered Christianity into many weaker denominations) couldn't possibly be back at those plottings again? My, that would be quite a fanciful, Conspiracy-mindset and also naive in the extreme.

Edited for grammar and structure - last question.

my research shows it is indeed a conspiracy with the pervs at the top controlling many seminaries & promoting/protecting their fellow pervs. "the smoke of satan has entered the sanctuary", the pope warned in the 60's. RCF.org has the full scoop.

You've probably researched it in more detail than I have. I don't doubt that alleged evidence has been packaged as a conspiracy at the top. I don't doubt there are some who are there to purposely bring the Church to ruin. Common sense should tell us, though, that although the Catholic Church is also a government with its own internal disciplinary and reassignment systems (rather like our Military) which is compounded in complexity by the Church's mission to forgive those who claim to repent and ask for forgiveness, even so the Catholic Church is not so powerful in this era as to be able to go into cover-up mode and refuse secular Law Enforcement Arrests and Prosecutions of abuser suspects among them -- certainly not in this country where Catholicism is regarded as far lower on the Totem pole than say Evangelical Fundamentalist Protestantism; no where near as influential in questions of Justice here as in countries/regions like Spain, Italy, South America and the like that have way more respect for the Catholic Church than Americans in general do.

unlike most, i approach this issue from a Catholic perspective. It is us precisely who had a very grave obligation, not to deny/obfuscate, but to confront & expose this pure evil & ROUT IT OUT. We can have a more in depth discussion at a later time. ;-)
