There are serious problems about the delegate count, even without pretending that Ron Paul has a chance at the nomination. Some of the primaries and caucuses were clearly miscounted. Some state Republican Parties fudged on the rules of whether their states were proportional or winner-take-all. It's enough to assure that the Tampa convention will probably waste at least a full day in those nasty fights that will not amuse TV audiences.
Nowadays the TV-raised generation wants stuff to run smoothly and quickly. Fights over delegates, and then maybe multiple ballots to get a nomination, can easily result in fewer viewers bothering to stick around to see the winner's big speech.
