Really. I was shopping at the local Sprouts market this evening. As I was loading my groceries, a white bearded old man (he looked just like The Grandfather in the old film, Heidi) who was collecting the carts in the parking lot stopped and asked me, "do you hate America?" I looked at him and replied, "Excuse me?" At first I thought he was being facetious, but then he asked me again, "do you hate America?" while pointing to the decal. He then said, "He (Ron Paul) is going to start a revolution. You must hate America if you are for Him because He is going to rip the country right up the middle within a year. The man (Ron Paul) is an old fool. He's an old fool." Of course, my first thought was to ask, do you hate our Republic and then to say you, Sir, are the old fool. Instead, I simply replied, Sir, I profoundly disagree with you. I have to admit, I was sincerely taken aback by that confrontation.

the generation that got us into this mess by trusting the government unconditionally seems to be deeply confused about the difference between your country...and the government. in fact, we pledge allegience to the republic for which the flag stands, not a federal government or democracy. in many cultures they learn from the wisdom of their elders. in ours, the elders often need to learn from the wisdom of the young....that and the fact that clowns like this idiot probably had no problem voting in all these social programs they expected the next generations to pay for....parasites...but just thnk, pops, if there is reincarnation, maybe your ass will get to come back to bear the fruits of your careless, gullible stupidity... “Like it or not, everything is changing. I think there was something in early Cold War propaganda that seriously damaged the critical faculties of some people now in their late 60's and those into their 70's. They appear more prone than any other part of the population to government/media manipulation regarding whatever Great Evil must be confronted. I'm not picking on older folks, though. Plenty of younger folks fall for it too, but many seem to shake it off in their 30's and 40's and at least grow some kind of healthy distrust of the Powers That Be. The older folks, not so much. I think the non-stop threat of imminent death traumatized little kids that are now retired.
BG, I think we're products of where we were raised. In NYC, such a comment to christine would have guaranteed a prompt "FUCK YOU" by most people i know. From there, it would have either stopped or gone up a notch. There is simply no time left left to suffer a'holes.
There is collective blame for all generations to share for the state of our country. Faulting one time group is too easy to do, and wrong. The thirst for power among men has always been the downfall of every country ever founded. Everyone agrees that good transcends generations, however, many people seem to not understand that "evil" also transcends generations. What one builds, another tears down.

Citizens of this country have long discussed ,if, and when, this country would "elect" its first female president and its first non white President. The so called "election" of a totally unqualified black man to the office came as a total surprise to those of my age and older. To me it has always been apparent that Obama, the empty shirt, was "created" for a reason, for a means to an end, as someone was needed that could be totally controlled at all times. I think my tendency would be to reply with a question. Hard to say what I would actually ask without being there. Probably something of order of, "What leads you say that?" It befuddles them more than anything else because it forces them to actually think. Sometimes they'll even melt down when they cannot come up with a rational answer.

It sure does. I find this particular incident quite disturbing. How the hell could anybody be so misinformed as to accuse Ron Paul of working to destroy this country? He's the only candidate who isn't. Edit: I wonder where this mallethead thinks a war with Eye-Ran is going to take this country? Eye-Rack was practically disarmed down to the last Red Ryder BB gun at the time we invaded and managed to quagmire us down to the point that our soldiers were committing suicide in their barracks rather than face another day.
